The law that's supposed to take effect in early August hasn't been passed yet.
On Friday the Assemblée Nationale approved a draft of the law. They set the cutoff for requiring the pass sanitaire in shopping centers at 20,000 m² (215,000 sq ft), so that wouldn't apply to most grocery stores. On Saturday the Senate approved their own draft of the law. Among the main differences compared to the draft approved on Friday: no pass sanitaire requirement for any outdoor venue, no pass sanitaire requirement for people under 18, no pass sanitaire requirement for shopping centers (regardless of size). They're still debating today to find common ground between the two houses, and the government is hoping an agreement will be reached and they'll be able to pass the law before the end of the day. Still no news on people having been vaccinated abroad though. But based on data points here and elsewhere, it seems like the CDC card (or other local proof of vaccination) is already generally accepted everywhere a pass sanitaire is required. |
Day 5 of our France tour, Amboise, stopped at three chateaus, each time they just looked for the dates of our vaccines and waved us in. Not even a hesitation. We have stopped being concerned, locally people are accepting of our foreign vaccine "proof".
Let me describe "proof". Printed QR code and vaccine date, name, DOB etc. A crappy printed copy too, was running low on ink. |

Another note, we have seen people turned away for lack of Passe Sanitaire/covid vaccine proofs. So it is somewhat reassuring that, when you are masked and a bit packed in, you know everyone is vaccinated. |

Louvre, Eiffel, Cattacombs
Has anyone had first hand experience at these locations using the US CDC card? Louvre, Eiffel, Cattacombs, any of the summer festival shows, etc? Going there in 3 days.
Tried getting the QR code today at the Disney vacine site and they were not able to do it. They took my number and said they would call if something changed, but not hopeful that will happen. |

They finally passed the law, although it still needs to be reviewed by the Supreme Court before it can take effect (they said they'd give their decision on August 5 so none of this will apply until then).
The version of the law the two houses agreed on makes the pass sanitaire required in: - cafés, bars and restaurants, including outdoor (but excluding to go orders) - "long distance" public transport (meaning domestic flights, long distance bus, and TGV / Intercités trains) - fairs and conferences - healthcare facilities (excluding ER) The pass sanitaire requirement for shopping centers was removed and is now up to local authorities, and the law says they must make sure to "maintain access to essential goods and services". A 10-day self quarantine is now required when testing positive, but does not apply between 10am and 12pm (or in case of emergency). The health department is responsible for checking, not the police (unless the health department has doubts). The quarantine can be lifted with a negative test (even if it hasn't been 10 days). All of these will be in effect until November 15. |

Does the law allow vaccine proof (such as CDC card) in lieu of the pass sanitaire? Does it provide a way for Americans, Canadians, et al. to get a pass sanitaire?

Bonjour from Paris....we were a few days late in getting our pass sanitaire converted via our cdc vax cards. Seems like pharmacy were allowed to do it for just a day or two, then they said only the vaccine tent at hotel de ville could. We went two days there to try. First day said too busy come tomorrow. Next day said they didn't have enough staff and had to focus on giving people shots.
My card works at my pool. At the new Pinault collection, they let us in as an exception. Going to try Pompidou Wednesday, but site says you must have the EU pass to enter. Restaurants don't start this until August 1, so no info there about what will happen... |
