Current and historical promotions
This is a thread for reporting details of promotions in the Finnair+ program.
The purpose of the wiki is to keep a repository of current and historical promotions. This works best if all details are given in a post of the thread. Once such a post is made, edit the wiki and add a short description of promo in headline-style, with a link to the post that holds the detailed information. (You can create such a link by right-clicking the post-number and copy link location).
Do not link to the promo itself from the Wiki, as the promo page is likely to disappear once the promo ended and such link will die, leaving the wiki sans historical info.
Feel free to discuss alterations to the format in the thread below.
Do not delete historical posts.

Andrew Kilkeary seems to be recruited from QF. I think that gives a pretty clear indication where AY+ is heading.

Well, first it is striking how AY looks for saviours in other airline's staff. It wasn't long ago NZ's cast off was head-of-something (forgot the title). And now they've gotten a guy from down-under who mostly worked as airline partner manager. To me that signals AY+ wants to move in the direction of SK EB and others, ie get a million point partners so that the points economy has less and less to do with flying. I have not a definite opinion if that is good or bad, but I see it coming.
One thing I wouldn't want to see is the QF system of "status credits" (very similar to BAEC tier points). I hate that system, as it introduces yet another currency. AY now has a very simple earning system and only one currency (points). I don't have to use a stupid calculator to know what I'll earn which makes it easy to buy tickets.
When a business brings in "a new guy" they usually introduce a lot of changes, and the businesses likes it cause they think the guy has new ideas. But what they all just do is that they copy the things they did in the last place, since that is so easy to do (they already have the blue prints for what everyone thinks is great inventions)
Then personally I've heard horror stories, but that may not have any bearing. I have a friend who brings in tonnes of business to QF. He literally puts people on flights every day and QF has recognized this in many generous ways over the years.
For himself he has had QF Plat for years, and they would ring him every year and talk about his business. And if he was short one year, they would ask the situation and then just grant the plat anyway.
A few years back, (which may or may not align with Kilkeary's year as manager) they suddenly sent him a gold card. He rang them and they just said "you were 10 points short (or what ever silly small amount, equal to one short domestic trip) so you qualified for gold, congrats!". And he said, "Listen, I've been plat for what 20 years, and you have rung me for 20 years and we have always worked things out". QF: "Sorry, that is not how we do business anymore.". Case closed.
20 years of loyalty down the drain with one managerial policy change.

According to latest edition of Blue Wings, Finnair Plus will turn 25 years in May and we should stay tuned for celebrations. Probably some promos to come.
I would like a challenge that would require more actual flying, sort of what some hotel programs do (partly based on your flying history to set the levels - "fly 10 different city pairs to unlock 10000 extra tier points" for example" and not buying tons of koristeluraappas from Decanter to earn few award points.

For the 90 year anniversary there were exactly such promotions, I think it was something like fly to each one of all longhaul destinations, get x extra points.
-- Added
Here it is

(during the airline anniversary year they did zero promotions..)

Edit: Only for swedish residents:
Any thoughts of the current promotions from Finnair going right now in april? Book a flight before 17/4 within travel period 29/3-30/11 and get double points on that flight. Handy for me as I'm travelling to Asia this summer.
Global offer:
Second promotion I've noticed is 15%-35% more points when buying x points from their shop. Is this last promotion worth it or do Finnair usually have even better discount?
I'm trying to get 50 000 points for a business upgrade next year.
Will get 20 000 - 25 000 points this year so may have to buy another 8000 points in order to have 50 000 points next year. Deal will be 7000 points + 1050 points for 90€.

Before people go crazy looking for said promotion, let's make a note it is a targeted promotion and not open for everyone. Only swedish residents, only r/t flights ex STO. Or did I miss something?

Sorry about that. Just double checked and it was only for swedish residents for the offer with the double points. Will edit my post. Buying points and get 15-35% more points is global. Just checked on US site.

Just got the seemingly personalized pre-departure email for a long-haul flight on 29 April:
'Hello R2,
Find out how to make the most of your trip with our extensive services!
Get 20% off tax-free pre-orders
Your flight must be between 1–31 May 2017, order by 26 May.'
Do they really need to advertise a promotion the customer is not eligible for? I never buy anything but it might annoy some people to know they're missing out on a promotion by two days.
