Current and historical promotions

This is a thread for reporting details of promotions in the Finnair+ program.

The purpose of the wiki is to keep a repository of current and historical promotions. This works best if all details are given in a post of the thread. Once such a post is made, edit the wiki and add a short description of promo in headline-style, with a link to the post that holds the detailed information. (You can create such a link by right-clicking the post-number and copy link location).
Do not link to the promo itself from the Wiki, as the promo page is likely to disappear once the promo ended and such link will die, leaving the wiki sans historical info.

Feel free to discuss alterations to the format in the thread below.

Do not delete historical posts.

I almost always buy electronics from Gigantti as you can return everything withing 30 days even if you have used it. I bought a cheap but bad laptop and brought it back - no questions asked. Also changed a mobile phone. Some people misuse this when buying big TV:s for lets say the olympics and then return them. I would need an air-conditioner for the hot Finnish summer😀hope they will earn points

The T&C state points are registered "about 30 days after purchase" and that if you return it, you won't get points. Which to me seems that they register the points only after the return period.

The cash & points offers are back. HEL - ATH/ALC/IBZ are on sale for 139/149€ + 1000 points. Luggage is already included so I deem that not a bad offer for a casual traveler.

I know it earns no points, but in the cheapest fare one earns anyway not much.

Direct HEL-JFK flights are on sale for ~420€ on Finnair site with AY flight numbers and ~390€ through OTAs with BA or IB flight numbers. Summer months are excluded but it is still a great price for nonstop.

Strangely all ads on Finnair site promote flights to New York for 649€. So they are selling tickets 30% cheaper through their booking engine than what they advertise.

They are also available at aa.com, if you prefer to have AA flight numbers for better points...

AY Economy Campaign tickets would earn 25%? It just says "Yes" in the point accrual column for all ticket types, where there's usually the %-value.

How much does the AA codes earn?

Correct. AA codes all earn 100%, for now.

I know it is O on AA codes, but I am not sure if it is O on AY codes.

In any case, O is a bit more complicated than that. It depends on the marketing carrier:
  • AA: 100% ^
  • AY: 50% plus tier bonus,
  • BA & IB: 25%

Not sure if it was a one off, but on Air Berlin 'operated for AY' flight just back from ZHR-HEL they were offering 20% off AY in flight tax free purchases. Lots of champagne and perfume bottles being snapped up, they were still selling when the seatbelt sign came on!

Sadly the discount didn't count for preorder for next flight. They did have Napue gin though, I guess as it's non-EU?

This was advertised on AY website, valid until end of March IIRC.

Yes, this month all in flight sales are -20% but not pre-order.

I saw this campaign on Facebook.

Actually the accrual-% does not give the full picture, as when AY-coded ticket, accrual is zone based, for others (even if codeshare on AY metal) it is km-based. So for instance HELJFK, booking class O or Q:
- AY basic 4000, silver 4400, gold 4600 and plat 5000 points
- AA 6610 points
- BA/IB 1653 points
