I spent $6K to qualify for a free night. Any reason I should wait to convert to a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited? I'd like to make sure my free night deposits -- but it doesn't seem that it will deposit for 6-8 weeks... and I'd like my Freedom or Freedom Unlimited beforehand. Thoughts?
Wondering same thing. Applied Feb 2017, received my 2 free nights. Spent $6000 plus before deadline that card ended. Received my CSP yesterday. I want to downgrade to Chase Freedom to get bonus categories but want to make sure I get my free night first. Don't trust Chase agents who say it should be fine.

Just trying to get some datapoints on either canceling the CSP or doing the product change.
Do you still have fairmont Premier status and see all of your certs?

I cancelled by CSP card maybe 10 days ago. My Fairmont status is still Premier and I see my room and suite upgrade certs, which are valid until 2/28/18. I was told I would get a prorated refund on my AF in 6-8 weeks - I'm expecting about $20 refund per card.

Has anyone received the additional night cert for $6k/12k spend by Aug 15th. I'm at 8+ weeks since meeting the spend requirement. Trying to determine at what point should I start following-up with Chase and Fairmont - especially considering the shortened shelf life of these certs.

"If you don't have a full 12 months to reach $12K, we'll give you the Complimentary Night Certificate if you've spent at least $6,000 on your Fairmont card by August 14th. This will be a one time courtesy. We'll deposit a Complimentary Night certificate into your profile on Fairmont.com within 8 to 10 weeks, but it will only be valid until February 28, 2018."
The 8 to 10 weeks is from August 14.

+1 Mhdena! BTW, Aug. 14 + 8 weeks = Oct. 9; +10 weeks = Oct. 23. I qualify for the 1-year validity, so I'm in no big hurry to get mine.

I got my Fairmont Visa this January. I was hoping it would last until Jan. 2018 so I could enjoy free Premier status until 28 Feb. 2019, but no such luck.
So now I am seriously considering keeping the Sapphire & cancelling the Hyatt as superfluous because:
Both give 2 pp$ on restaurant/ bar spending, airline tickets, car rentals. Neither has a forex commission (except for Visa Intl.'s 1/2%.) Most benefits, such as rental-car and travel insurances, are AFAIK the same, or CSP is probably better.
CSP gives 2 pp$ on taxis/Lyft/Uber, road/bridge tolls, and ALL hotels, Hyatt or otherwise. Which is better for me than 3 pp$ only at Hyatts & 1 pp$ at other hotels.
I have just joined SQ's KrisFlyer & earned 2894 miles on YVR--iah--CHS on UA metal in L class vs. 505 UA miles (US$101 pre-taxes) or ~1447 Aeropesos (50%.) So I like the idea of transferring to SQ!
The only disadvantages of this plan IMO are the $20 higher AF and the end of my anniversary Cat. 1-4 free nights, which is bad because I often stay at Cat. 3 or 4 Hyatts with revenue rates in the US$300s!
