Please do report back on your experience. Is this going to be your first trip as iO? Would be very interesting to see if they're changing the normal iO procedures regarding escorting/boarding first, etc.

it will be, but i've said it since the beginning - the only benefit I see of iO is being on top of the upgrade list. perhaps my refunds were processed faster. i usually arrive 45-50min before departure at dxb, barely have time for the lounge (by design), like to take my time in duty free, and board right before the doors close, so this escorting thing would be useless, never understood the appeal.

usually yes but with all this circus going on I wondered if that has changed

doubtful - if you wish to board last you will be able to. Escort only through queues to the plane door and then a crew member will sort you out.

I stand corrected - this is great news!

Given it’s previous history, amazed (but pleased!) to see that BKK-HKG is due to return on an A380.

For those thinking of a Dubai break...

https://www.hotelnewsme.com/news/dub...urther-notice/

Dubai Police has sent a new circular stating that all bars and pubs must stop serving alcohol immediately, as of June 24 until further notice.

Restaurants can continue to serve drinks provided a meal is ordered. Any venue registered under a ‘restaurant’ license can continue to serve alcohol. However, venues registered as ‘bar’ or ‘pub’ are not permitted under any circumstances.

The notice said: “We would like to inform you that it has been decided to close all bars and pubs and stop serving alcoholic beverages as of Wednesday 24/06/2020 until further notice. Kindly inform and abide by the decision to close in order to avoid legal issues. You will be notified to restart at a later time.”

I suppose if someone needs a drink or two they can buy them from Spinneys or African and Eastern with a passport or pop up the road to Ajman.

Or just order room service. Same prices as the bars generally. And almost all bars are in hotels.

A&E were delivering. But that was last week. Who knows, with ever-changing edicts.

That seems like madness in current loads, both countries only let citizens in pretty much so the demand will be 10-pax max

There are lots of routes that are showing an A380 from August. A lot will switch to the B777 before that.

Roger and agreed - these are the times those A321LR would come in handy ;)

Has anyone been on a flight in J or F yet? What is the level of service in either? Food, wine?
I understand that on the A380 the bar will not be open :(. Probably no showers in F either.
I'm still a long way away from flying, but wonder if it will be worthwhile to use miles for a J to F upgrade (no F lounge in DXB either...)

Any word yet on the reopening of lounges in DXB? I see that EK are going to resume AMM soon, so I am tempted to book for late July/early August.

Im flying MAN-SYD in J next week with wife and baby. Will report back.

Also, massive amounts of availability on awards and miles upgrades. As wide as the sea! I just need to get my hands on 60k miles to push us all into F but waiting to see if I’ll get a 30% skywards deal next week.
