I love a good rumor 😊

Following the UAE Federal Government’s announcement to lift restrictions on transit passengers services, from 15th June Emirates will offer passenger services to 16 more cities on its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. With travel restrictions remaining in place in most countries, customers are reminded to check entry and exit requirements before their journeys.

Flights to the following cities will be available for booking on emirates.com or via travel agents: Bahrain, Manchester, Zurich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, New York JFK, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei, Hong Kong, Perth and Brisbane.

In addition, from 8th June Emirates will offer flights from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad for travellers from Pakistan who wish to connect onwards to other Emirates destinations.

How does the transit work at DXB for tourists?

Does the flights have to be on the same ticket, or can I transit through DXB with two separate tickets from airlines in separate alliances, given that I don't check any luggage (or have it thorugh-checked to destination)?

sealsgod Jun 4, 2020 5:37 am

when you have to do this? as per uae have ban for tourist on late march, all non resident can only transfer with same ticket as the computer at airport will showing you can not boarding if the ticket end at dubai

any idea when?

Thinking about July or August, so relatively soon. I guess the issue would be, like you said, getting to DXB in the first place.Though it should be able to be proven that it's a transit with the onward tickets.

This would be for a connection from/to Swiss and Emirates.

Looks like some changes to the re-start are coming.

Friend of mine received message, this morning, from EK that their flight on July 5 DXB to GLA has been changed to JUL 7 .. HOWEVER.... only showing on EF and Emirates.com one flight per week on Wednesdays from JUL 15.

I've seen Glasgow change from daily starting 1st July, to Tu, Th, Sa from 17th, to Mo, We, Fr, from then too and all this is different from the Routesonline link a few posts up. Not planning anything until we get a bit more clarity and stability.

Yeah - it's still all moving around. The MAN flights are starting 15th June, but only 2 days a week, and on a B777. They're actually doing this already, but cargo only at the moment.

I would say use August on EK site as a guide, seems they have made changes in Aug on booking system which is not entirley reflective of Routesonline or MMB as I am now flying on a flight back to BHX on a flight that does not exist.

LHR - 3 Flights Daily - 09:05 (777), 14:20 (A380), 20:40 (A380)
BHX - 1 Daily - 14:20 (A380) *Did offer me connections through Lufthansa going to Frankfurt
Man - 1 Daily - 14:20 (A380)
GLA - 1 Daily - 14:35 (777)
EDI - 0 Flights
NCL - 0 Flights
STN - 0 Flights
DUB - 1 Daily - 14:05 (777)

I know they are still tweaking but gives some help, I would say expect another update around the 15th as EK open's int flights at end of month so expect much of asia to open by then. You have Pakistan, I expect India shortly even though its having a spike in cases, it's trying to unlock as it can't withstand the economic cost.

Plane Change

I can confirm that the DXB to LAX starting on July 1st has had a plane change from the A380 to 777. Was trying to get one last flight before I repatriate but it looks like that will not happen.

yyzlhr Jun 10, 2020 7:31 am

More changes were done today and seems that first 380 flight wont be until Mid July.
