Of course that is after the repatriation of hundreds of thousands of laid off people is dealth with (200,000+ Indians in UAE have registered to be repatriated, which means another 200,000 among other Asian communities)

thats serious numbers

Etihad appears to be resuming inbound flights (for approved residents only at the moment), could Emirates be not-so-far behind?

Etihad plans to gradually restart all of its passenger flights after June 16 as more restrictions lift globally.

That's the news of today indeed, I wonder why Etihad is able to do so and Emirates hasn't (yet) announced something similar.

There are two Eid's first is end of May, the second is the million dollar question as it entails Hajj end of July, first few days of august. If Hajj goes ahead then EK will likely ramp up services in July. EU has said external borders will only be eased after internal freedom of movement has resumed and it's proposed an extenion of blocks to 15th June from the 15th May the current block. Also UK is now considering a 14 day quaruntine order for anyone traveling into the UK so expect many holiday makers from Asia/Gulf etc decide not to head to the UK. Therefore it seems reasnable when Tim Clark says write off the summer :(

There is absolutely no way Haj will go ahead with the mass public. It may go on, but likely with selected people within Saudi who have been vetted to be virus-free.

But of course Eid Adha takes place regardless of Haj, and if borders open up (without 14 day quarantines) , you may have people travelling

Emirates operates limited passenger flights back to Dubai

Update
Last updated: 9 May 2020, 09:36 Dubai (GMT+4)
  • Emirates is operating limited passenger flights to carry travellers from select destinations back to the UAE.
  • To check which flights are currently operating into Dubai, visit our Essential Travel destinations guidewhich we are updating frequently.
  • Current destinations for return flights include Frankfurt and London Heathrow.
  • Stringent entry restrictions remain in place upon arrival in Dubai which includes: a mandatory DHA test on arrival; a mandatory 14 day quarantine and a follow up test before release.
  • Safety and wellbeing of customers and crew remain Emirates’ top priorities.
  • All Emirates aircraft will go through enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes in Dubai, after each journey.
  • COVID-19 flight and travel restrictions remain in place across many countries around the world. We are closely monitoring the situation as it evolves, and we hope to resume services as soon as conditions allow. This includes receiving government approvals, the easing of travel restrictions, and commercial demand. We will announce any service resumption when we are in a position to do so.

Emirates Group records 32consecutive year of profit

Emirates airline reports 21% rise in full-year profit

https://www.emirates.com/media-centr...19-20-results/

“The COVID-19 pandemic will have a huge impact on our 2020-21 performance, with Emirates’ passenger operations temporarily suspended since 25 March, and dnata’s businesses similarly affected by the drying up of flight traffic and travel demand all around the world. We continue to take aggressive cost management measures, and other necessary steps to safeguard our business, while planning for business resumption. We expect it will take 18 months at least, before travel demand returns to a semblance of normality”

There are no flights from ICN that day, so it's definitely been cancelled.

Have you logged onto the Emirates site using the PNR supplied by Expedia? If it's still showing a operating, give it a few more days and it should then show as cancelled.

Unfortunately it's still showing as confirmed on Expedia, and Emirates it was the same up until 2 days ago; now I can't retrieve the booking on Emirates site and it displays a technical difficulties message instead.

Still lots of confusion over which flights are operating. I have a LHR/DXB/BKK flight leaving on 13 June. According to MMB it is still a confirmed flight, but if I try to book any outgoing flight to that destination prior to 1st July I get a warning about no flights available.

The latest I hear from friends who work in DXB T3 is that they, "shouldnt expect to return to work until July".

They are probably doing what other airlines are doing and rolling the cancellations. EasyJet are cancelling flights 7 days beforehand, and you can't claim a refund until it's officially cancelled.

Seems Gulf / Khaleej Times are a copy and paste job from EK Media Centre https://www.emirates.com/media-centr...and-australia/

It does have a wonderful * which is not on the newspapers, says "*Subject to government approval " I guess dependant on when UK, seems more repatriation flights then scheduled connections, given UK will limit entry at end of month and Australia onlu allowing its nationals back https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/int...1580226297.htm I guess also Australia chosen since crew not required to required to stay grounded for 14 days. If they do resume it's positive start, maybe June we can see a resumption since EU is keen to reopen in June if possible.
