Or medical, or deportation? But a whole third of the seats? Empty flight - balancing? Looking forward to hear from the OP what the reason was!

Can anyone advise if we should pay for seat selection based by the above booked load? Thanks |

Can anyone advise if we should pay for seat selection based by the above booked load? Thanks Looking at those numbers, the flights in Y seem fairly busy although EK are still willing to sell some seats. I’m assuming it is two of you travelling (if not more) and possibly with no status so given those numbers and the importance of sitting together I would definitely consider paying for seats together. What does the seat map look like at the moment. This should be a good indicator although a lot of pax still wait till check in opens online before selecting seats but to have some sort of guarantee it would entirely be up to you. Once again, welcome on board and hopefully you’ll stick around. Safe & Happy Travels S |

Current seat map for EK27 22/12/17 |
Thanks Saltire74 for your warmth welcome and help!! . Yes indeed we are a party of 2 and didn't find the payment worth it.
But looks like there's no way to go about if we want to guarantee a seat together :( |
Another two class substitution on DXB-GLA. They're packing them in and it's not down to cheap fares from what I can see.

With a Y Seat map looking as full as that one, that flight will most likely be packed (in my experience). At OLCI. you may get a centre pair, but If you want anything better I would bite the bullet and pay for early seat selection.

Also take in to consideration that this is what the seat map looks like presently and there will be connecting flights coming from a whole host of other cities connecting to that flight with pax not selecting/paying for seats at the moment and some of them will have the benefit of being able to check in before you such as those coming from Australia.
S Thanks for the help!! |

You are so right on this! Since the flight is coming from Melbourne we would be left with not many seats. Now am hoping they will not be bussing a load of 500 plus paxs ugh
Thanks for the help!! Have you paid for seats on both legs? Due to some technical issues with FT at present, I’ll post a screenshot of the current seatmap for your SIN-DXB flight in a separate post. Note that I haven’t managed to get the first few rows in the front Y cabin in the screenshot but these are either already selected or blocked by EK. S |

Thanks Will! Did not even notice this thread :). Looks like there is no chance to get lucky from what I distill of this, better start preparing mentally for the horrors of a 10 row 777 in Y. So be it. ;)

Can I please request a check for:
EK 435 BNE-DXB December 22 (tonight) EK 624 DXB-LHE (December 23) I have an economy flex ticket and am Skywards Gold. What would my chances be of getting an op-up especially on EK 435? I'm expecting EK 435 to be chockers with today being the last working day before the holidays. Many thanks! |

You are are going to have excellent IFE to while away the hours and crews down the back are good at getting you refills of drinks to keep you hydrated. Don’t fret about it. Safe & Happy Travels S |

EK 10 abreast Y seats are not that bad. I’m 6ft 3in, (and not skinny). The caveat with bulkhead and exit seats are usually that these seats are not as wide due to fixed armrests. I did not find any issue with a bulkhead seat that I sat in so would assume that a standard seat with moveable armrests are not going to be as tight. As ft101 says, the space to fit those 10 seats in comes mostly from aisle space. Don’t fret too much about it. Thousands upon thousands of travellers fly on EK 77Ws daily in Y and a lot of them return for another go. Our very own Skywardhunter flies EK mostly on 77Ws in Y and chooses to do so on a regular basis despite having many other choices. In DXB between two 77W flights in Y right now actually. Width isn't the issue, I find legroom in regular seats is less than A380 but it's manageable. Just did 9hrs in 19K and got another 3hrs to go in 19C

You were right- no upgrade for EK 435. To my shock found out that they have scrapped the priority security departure cards for gold members- only for first/business pax from now on. Wonder what's next.. |

You'll likely never even notice the difference as most of the space is taken from the aisles rather than the seats. It's just here on FT that it's become such a catastrophe.
Didn't check the plane type while booking this EK flight. About to board, will see if the EK implementation is better than the KLM one, I am sitting in aisle though as I always prefer that. |
Hi everyone.
I wonder of if someone could tell me what the flight EK406 is looking like on 29th Dec? Got an email for upgrade to business for £824... not sure whether to do it or not? |

Anyway, I found the routing so here you go: EK 4060DXB 29/12/17 10:05MEL 30/12/17 6:30388 Daily 66% / 21mF4 A4 J7 C7 I7 O7 P7 Y9 E9 R9 W9 M9B9 U9 K9 H0 Q9 L9 T9 V0 X0 Does not appear to be full / overbooked in Y (or any other cabin for that matter) at least at this stage. |
Thanks so much Thijsseh, really appreciate it and my apologies for omitting the route.
