Information on Load requests
The number of seats for sale for a flight are available via ExpertFlyer.com, a subscription-based service with a 5-day free trial. A subscription is $9.99/month and can be enabled and disabled any time. It is encouraged to subscribe rather than post repeatedly in this thread.
NB: Op-up changes or overselling of a flight cannot be determined with certainty from this information, only inferred to be more or less probable.
For a once-off load request please follow these guidelines:
Flight loads >7 days out are not very useful, as the airline could still sell many seats, unless availability of a specific fare bucket (e.g. Business Saver upgrade) is requested. If you wish to know the general flight load please don't post >7 days before departure.
When requesting a load please provide the following information:
- Date of flight (departure date)
- Flight Number
- Origin
- Destination
These four fields are mandatory in searching on ExpertFlyer (see screenshot below) and it isn't fair to except those who pay for their subscriptions to also have to go look up which cities a specific flight number is from and to (also some flight numbers are onward flights (5th freedom routes, e.g. CMB-MLE) and loads will differ significantly depending on which sector of the flight is checked.

those dates are still a little too far out, the data will be meaningless as it can change a lot every few hours. More importantly it won't give you much of an indication with regards to upgrade availability now or in the future, there's no known correlation between current availability and future upgrade availability.
Please see the thread wiki for further details on load requests.

on 17 Y is well over and F is wide open - flight will go full -more chance of snagging seats on this one Id say but EK may make you wait until the gate to process the upgrade (in my recent experience) so you may miss out on the 4 lounge or you may be lucky and they at open up - keep checking on the app.

Everything 0 except F2. But SA routes are hard for op-ups, and doesn't look like any J space available. Nice username

And the seat map is completely full, no empty or blocked seats in any class. Unlikely to get anywhere near upstairs I am afraid.

Thanks thijsseh
My interpretation of that is there is loads of space on the flight out, but the way back is full in Y with space in J, leaving a not unreasonable chance of Y->J op-up for a single pax gold.
Is that correct?

There will probably be op-ups, but not necessarily, and if there are you may not make the cut, but you might. It depends on your fare type (e.g. Flex Plus, Flex) as well as your status, and with plats and higher fare types ahead of you if only 4 or 5 get upgraded you might not make it, but one never knows.
