Information on Load requests

The number of seats for sale for a flight are available via ExpertFlyer.com, a subscription-based service with a 5-day free trial. A subscription is $9.99/month and can be enabled and disabled any time. It is encouraged to subscribe rather than post repeatedly in this thread.

NB: Op-up changes or overselling of a flight cannot be determined with certainty from this information, only inferred to be more or less probable.

For a once-off load request please follow these guidelines:

Flight loads >7 days out are not very useful, as the airline could still sell many seats, unless availability of a specific fare bucket (e.g. Business Saver upgrade) is requested. If you wish to know the general flight load please don't post >7 days before departure.

When requesting a load please provide the following information:

- Date of flight (departure date)
- Flight Number
- Origin
- Destination

These four fields are mandatory in searching on ExpertFlyer (see screenshot below) and it isn't fair to except those who pay for their subscriptions to also have to go look up which cities a specific flight number is from and to (also some flight numbers are onward flights (5th freedom routes, e.g. CMB-MLE) and loads will differ significantly depending on which sector of the flight is checked.

2.) a few days ago I called EK to upgrade my wife to Business with Skywards miles - they split the reservation and have done so as I dint have enough miles for both of us
3.) Wife is pretty upset as she rather travels with me in Economy than alone is Business

Questions:

I am ready to follow her wish to downgrade her again, if we for example get a complete middle row in Economy so she can lay down during the flight. Or both travel in business in case there is a chance of a Opup for me.

a.) I followed the link and found the following information: F4 A4 J7 C7 I7 O0 P7 Y9 E9 R9 W9 M9 B9 U9 K9 H0 Q9 L9 T0 V0 X0
What do you guys think about the booking situation?

b.) Seatmap shows very less reserved seats. The blocked ones in the front of Y are all preferred seatings (which are lets say 50% occupied when I check on EK under managing booking). The back of the plane (last third) is completely blocked and can not be reserved. Call center doesn't know why too

What would you guys do? Reserve one seat in the middle row? Further back? So the chances are there to get a complete row? Please advise. Thanks so much!!!!
How about calling EK to find out how much a Y Flex to J upgrade would cost you? More comfortable for both of you - and keeping the peace...

I did. Thanks for the advise. The interesting thing is that the last third of the seats in the plane are completely blocked (was already at reservation)... and when I checked in, still the case. Call center also doesn't know why...

Or medical, or deportation? But a whole third of the seats? Empty flight - balancing? Looking forward to hear from the OP what the reason was!

Oh, third of the seats, I had read it as 3 rows... then it's most likely due to light load, they'll close off the back section, it might open up at check-in.

Thanks - same on 27th also. Why don't EK oversell in Y? Isn't this their usual practice?

I am sure they do oversell in Y. But Y0 only means they dont sell any more Y tickets. For all we know they might (for instance) be 10 seats oversold already.
