Online date (changes)

Now I'm pretty appreciative of EK's IT systems, at least when compared to EY and QR, and I know that no one from EK actually reads this, but I don't get why they don't have something to let you do flight changes online.

I've changed the date of my flight to Dubai about 5 times in the last few weeks, due to both change of plans and EK's unpredictable inventory system. While I'm mighty grateful I'm not paying what could add up to the cost of my ticket as change fees, calling up EK has become a chore.
  • Listen to the welcome clip
  • Enter Skywards number/ PIN
  • Verify yourself despite entering Skywards details
  • Have the agent check availability when you've already done so on EF
  • Have them check date change penalties when you know there are none
  • Be told to arrive 3 hours before departure (sure, like that's going to happen)
  • Be asked for meal and seat preferences for the millionth time

So yes I would like to be able to avoid this and not run up huge phone bills, and just make the changes online.

Yes please....

Spent 35 mins on the phone the other day just to change from an evening to afternoon flight and after all that was told I couldn't. They keep transferring between departments although you choose the right number in the menu options.

I've started calling only after the Singapore office is closed since they started redirecting to the Indian Call Centre. They pick up in one ring (unlike forever for the Singapore office) and sort everything out fast, though there's all the annoying things I mentioned in my post.

I don't think it's possible to get through to them in Dubai though.

In all fairness, some of these would be needed .. the agent doesnt know that the pax is a Fter and has checked stuff online, knows his stuff and sometimes more than the agent

Indeed. This one time, she said, ok let me check availability. I told her there are seats available in the fare bucket. Then she said ok let me check the penalties on date change. I told her there were none. Yes sir but I have to check. Of course. When she started on the check in/ seats nonsense, I said, this is the 4th time I'm calling this week so don't go over it again, I'll do everything online.

Which is why they should make something as simple as date changes available online!

Aha clever. I was surprised once when I rang EK in the UK at around 1am and they picked up straight away, although the agent told me that it diverts to the Dubai centre!

Oh maybe it's Dubai and not India, though it's Indian sounding people, and when I call in DXB I get Arab sounding people.

I thot majority of folks working in dxb in the service industry were mostly from SA and SEA ... one of the cities where we could always speak in Hindi or another native Indian language and be comfortable

I always call the NY call center (1-800-777-3999). Just hit 2 for First/Business and I instantly get an agent, either from the NY office or the Dubai call center. Works great.

I've found that the US number always directs me to Mumbai rather than Dubai. The ringtone for Mumbai is very distinctive and also the convent English accents. In contrast the Dubai call center also have plenty of Indians but mainly from the South with their own distinctive accents.

date change

Hi,

I am booked LHR-DBX-DEL on emirates.com and I wanted to change my date of departure. I was told there is a fee of 75gbp to make a date change as they would have to re issue the ticket. Is this true?

Is there any way I can change my date of travel without a charge as the date I am looking at is the same price as the date I am traveling on at the momment.

Thank you.
