Some of the destinations that will miss on the DXB BCN connection include SYD, most Indian Subcontinent destinations, HRE, LUN, ACC, LOS, ABJ, DKR. Still most of Asia and Southern Africa is covered.
According to airliners.net the top destinations for EK out of BCN (in that order) are: NRT (116,000 passengers/year), PVG, DEL, PEK, SIN, KIX, HKG, ISB, DXB, BKK and JNB (20,000/year). |

When is ARN and OSL going to be announced? I thought we would here something this week.

Unconfirmed, but reports abound of Dublin going to a 777 in June/July. There's been very strong demand, most flights so far oversold (in Y) on the 332. While F demand actually exists (admittedly well discounted, but still impressive for a country that is supposed to have no money), J demand is fairly light. Y seems to be filling the aircraft, with EK going so far as to use the J seats for Y pax (with a Y service) and seating all J pax in F (and the odd Y pax on an op-up - no complaints here!). This seems to be happening a day or two before the flight - I'm guessing if F+J pax together number less than 12, they upgrade the already booked J pax and convert J to extra Y inventory. And they seem to be shifting the additional 30-ish Y seats at the last minute too - although it is released to low/promotional RBDs.
Admittedly the promotional F fares were not much higher than J, so that explains why F demand exists. However, I've heard they plan to use a 3-class 777 on the route... It's good to see competitive longhaul pricing ex-DUB - what we normally get is the price of an ex-UK flight plus 50-100 euro, which is just enough that it's not worth risking the misconnect in LON. When you consider the Irish air travel tax of EUR3 versus UK APD... there's a lot more profit in the Irish market. |
Another 2 343s going on New Years.
http://airlineroute.net/2012/01/26/ek-glavceist-jan13/ With this the timetable can be operated using only two 343s. I expect Nairobi to upgrade in W12 and also expect VCE to go 777/345. Hyderabad can be placed into a existing rotation quite easily. PER 420/421 also goes 77W from 25 March!!!! Even though it has not seen a 77L since the 9th January already. |

Seems to me they would have better return by doing that. But EK should have the facts and figures I don't. GBM |
For the next US destination, I would guess between MIA, BOS, or DTW (intentionally not including ORD, ATL, and IAD since others operate from there, and I have no idea whether loads are high enough to avoid dilution)

EK will announced to start service DXB-ORD and this route will goes on effective early July 2012. It will operated 77W aircraft.
Found another post in Chicago Forum. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/17843440-post16.html EK is next new US destination city is ORD. |

'Rumors swirling that Emirates is going to launch daily service in Early July with a 77W.' So, Emirates have not announced this... it's pure rumour. Can we keep this topic to facts, and post rumours in the rumour/wishlist thread? Cheers |

Also have to agree on IAD with 77W by the end of 2012. I see IAD happening, then ORD, then MIA. This would of course hurt IAD's existing IAD-DXB service, and see competition with QR's DOH-IAD, but its a lot easier to take on a US airline than two Gulf Carriers already established at ORD!
