I notice that the EK HKG - DXB flight I normally take has changed to the A340. How does the economy on this compare to the A330?

A340 Y product is better than A330 Y. The aircrafts are newer.

In addition, effective 01 SEP 2012, EK354/355 reverts to B777-300ER in config 8/42/304 (from previously planned -200 with 8/42/216) so 88 more Y seats.

Just heard a rumour that this flight has now been upgauged to an A380...will try and confirm in the next day or so...;)

If this is confirmed this would be great. Finally, SIN gets a A380. :) Long awaited... ^

Why? I thought the timings is awful. You have go through DXB-BKK-HKT. If you prefer to fly on TG.

Where did you hear this? I don't have a source of this. Let me know if you hear anything.

Thanks for the update mate.

Great to see this route back.

DXB TIP changes from A332 to A343 on January 01 and is scheduled with A343 at least until the end of March. That means that at least 3 A343s will be kepts until the end of the winter schedule, as DXB CPT will be running with twice daily A343 through the end of March.

Kind of sneeky, Emirates waits until Singapore recieves all they're 380s, and puts them into service on various routes.

Then EK pounds the Singapore route with the SJ after that. :D

I travelled business class on A330 Addis - Dubai and Dubai - HK. Very uncomfortable seats, especially as I am tall... no sleep at all..better off in economy where at least i expect not to sleep.. Compare that to the A380 flat beds on my outbound HK- Dubai segment where I slept soundly.
Never been on A340 Business class, are the seats better designed?

Not sure why anyone would prefer the 380 over the 777ER, yes the 380 seats are slightly better but the service you get on a 777 is much better than on the 380 where the FA's seem overworked. Unless you're flying in F!

Really? You actually fly for the bar? And there I was thinking ppl fly cuz they need to get from a to b!

Little disappointed to here all LHR routes will be 380 as well. Welcome to bad service and a hugely packed lounge in LHR

Because that'll give this route much needed premium capacity without increasing Y capacity too much which makes getting an op up on this route a lot easier. Also, if one has the misfortune to be in Y, the 380 is a lot more comfortable than the 777.
