Any chance EK will launch ORD before, say, spring 2013?

P.S. On a side note, SQ has codeshare flights to WAW... but you cannot even select the city on their website when making a booking.

Just some notes about Poland/Warsaw:
-economy is steadily growing (even 2001 & 2002 (1.2% & 1.4%) and 2009 (1.7%)) -average annually growth rate 4% to 6% (one of the fastest growing in Eastern Europe) -unempoyment rate in Warsaw below 3% (compare this with Spain, where EK added new flights to MAD and BCN recently) -population is growing: 1.75mil (Prague: 1.25mil); 7th largest city in the European Union |
Oh come on DPS tag-on to the ADL flight what happened there :(
So many teasers. The extra flight to SIN with 9 hours on the ground ("this is Emirates they cried, it will bound to have a tag on somewhere"), ADL via DPS, watching KLM and QR boost capacity. The worlds 4th largest country, massive growing economy, huge workforce, come on Emirates, please take my money! |

Normally EK launches the afternoon flight out of Europe and later upgrades this flight at first to an A380 (like EK did at LHR, MAN, MUC, FCO, AMS, CDG).
In case of DME the evening flight operates with B77W wheras the afternoon flight is (just) an A345. Next winter the afternoon flight to be upgraded to B77W and the evening flight will be an A380. Why the evening flight A380 and not the afternoon flight? Or is there a bigger demand in the evening than in the afternoon (the afternoon departure should have better/more connections in DXB)? LYS is also an evening flight. Maybe we should count it as the evening flight out of GVA (distance between this 2 cities something like 150km). |

What makes one think EK will fly SIN DPS just because people say it'll happen.
But - reasons why I thought it might happen- - EK Jakarta Office talked about it (there were quotable sources here) - Growth in Bali tourism from Europe (which is badly served compared to pretty much anywhere else) - Large group of migrant workers - The Economy Stupid :p - That lay-over in Singapore and the stopover en-route to Adelaide talk and rumours, which could have been made up by anyone, but i'm a sucker for this type of gossip - Success of KLM & Qatar going daily to Bali in recent months, and other airlines to Dubai from Jakarta - upto 5 daily flights (2 x EK, 1 x GA, 1 x Yemenia, 1 x Lion or a.n.other local airline) whereas my old Emirates flights to Jakarta have previously routed me via Singapore, KL, and from memory, Colombo. - I really, really, really want it! |

Gatwick Airport is set to expand as Emirates A380 superjet flies in
http://i47.tinypic.com/30m4mfm.jpg WATER WELCOME: The super jumbo is given a traditional water salute by the fire service It was staged to mark 25 years of Emirates flying from Gatwick, but the occasion was also used to demonstrate the airport's commitment to introducing the 517-seater planes. Guy Stephenson, Gatwick's chief commercial officer, said an exact start date has not been set but that Emirates will be the first airline to regularly fly the super jumbos into and out of the airport. He added: "We are about to construct a dedicated pier for the A380s which will be complete by summer 2013. "We will also have to do some work to widen the taxiways and we are in the thick of a major runway resurfacing project. "Admittedly that has been challenging as we have had to do it all after 9.30pm but we are on course to finish by December." As is customary with any new aircraft landing for the first time, the fire service gave it a water cannon salute as it came to a halt on the runway. Neighbours of the airport fearing the noise impact from super jumbos will be pleased to hear that they are about 25 per cent quieter than a Boeing 747. Captain Martyn Smith, who landed the aircraft, said: "They are an absolute dream to fly. "They are so much quieter and beautifully responsive. But they are huge. You're so high off of the ground in the cockpit. "It takes about two months of additional training to fly any new model and I joined Emirates with the sole intention of flying an A380. I dreamed of doing this since I was a little boy." The aircraft boasts a cocktail lounge, shower spas and more than 1,300 channels of in-flight entertainment. While the lounge and spas may be out of reach for most of the travellers on board, economy passengers benefit from the entertainment system and wider aisles. Laurie Berryman, UK vice president of Emirates, said: "The economy seats are very comfortable. You don't get that feeling of enclosure." Emirates' existing fleet of A330s and A340s will be scaled down as the new model comes into operation at Gatwick. Mr Berryman said all of the A380s had been passed as safe since cracks were discovered on the wings of some of the £25 million planes in March. He added: "We have had them all serviced and the problem has been fixed so there are no concerns over safety. "We have 21 in operation at the moment and a further 69 are on the way." http://www.thisissussex.co.uk/Gatwic...ail/story.html |
I thought an A380 cost in the range of $300m, not GBP 25m?

For the WAW route, I see fares loaded, but to get to NRT, for example, it's so so high. :td:
Also, there are no F fares loaded. This route is supposed to launch with a three-class a/c, so perhaps they'll add them closer in? |
