I'm definitely in the "keep the syrup away from my sausages (or bacon)" camp.
Egg salad will never again cross my lips.
Mayonnaise should be a controlled substance.

In Germany ( where I am right now enjoying the post World Cup mellowness
):
Preferably only snack on wurst that was made on the premises. The taste is quite amazing.
Keep away from the fish if not in a coastal town. If the cook is from Northern Africa you might give a cautious try.
Beer gardens are little spots of heaven on earth. Especially if you can get wine instead.
If any restaurant has turkey breast salad on the menu, just find an excuse to leave.
German wine can be good but Austrian great.
Last but not least: Ask if they take credit cards. Most do not.

Steak should be cooked no more than medium-rare and the only condiment allowed is a hint of horseradish.
Steak tatare is wonderful, but not presented with raw egg please.
"Western" food should be eaten with a fork in the left hand and a knife in the right. "Shovellers" will not be invited back home a second time and excuses will be found not to have to eat out with them.

1) Many foods become better when bacon is involved. Grilled jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon is an excellent example.
2) A true man will grill at least once every month of the year, even if he lives in the North.
3) If you need to sweeten your iced tea, use only real sugar. Ideally, use a simple syrup.
4) People love a good smoked turkey on Thanksgiving.
5) A baked turkey is better if it's brined before cooking.
6) If you must eat a hot dog, eat a good kosher one. For best results, pair with spicy mustard and onions.
