Cookies are best served with ice cold skim milk. An ice cube or two added to the milk makes it perfect.

IIRC Miss 3x is Hindu, but Seventh-Day Adventists are also vegetarian.

Some Hindus are vegetarian, some are not, with an entire spectrum of adherence in between.

I don't eat anything that looks worse going in than it does coming out.

What does Miss 3x a Hindu, have to with Hindus being prohibited from eating meat?
Apparently being misinformed runs in the family. I am thinking about the cousin in HYD.

^ This is true (I just happen to recall she's Hindu, but this is not to say all Hindus are vegetarian).

I neglected to post my own food rules:

1) I don't eat crab, because I'm allergic. So no Maryland crab cakes for me.

2) I can't stand being anywhere near red onions.

3) No tofu. I don't have a big problem with tofu, but there have been some studies that have linked soy protein with MS. My wife has had occasional MS-like symptoms, though she has not yet been diagnosed. When she stopped eating soy protein (specifically those fake soy breakfast sausages), her symptoms lessened. So as long as she's avoiding tofu, I will.

Other than that, I'm pretty adventurous. I'll try anything once, even chicken feet, tripe, tongue, pig's knuckles, etc.

3timesalady, you and I are just not meant to be (not that we were anyway), due to the tea-vs.-coffee thing. I have to have my coffee. ^ to good espresso!

I think it's more regional and cultural vs. hinduism.

My brother's girlfriend was made in the USA but her parents are vegetarians from Gujarat or Punjab (one of the more northwestern Indian states, I just can't remember) and they do not eat any meat.

She does eat meat though... my brother was feeding her Pastrami...

You are correct. It depends on a lot of things. I was born to Hindu parents as well. I was raised as a vegetarian, no eggs, meat chicken, fish etc. But one cannot make a blanket statement that Hinduism prohibits meat.

Most, but not all. Most Hindus don't see Jains as different, nor do Jains see themselves separate from the Hindu fold. Gandhi was a Jain, and a vegetarian.

I concur.^

Ditto for mayonnaise. There's just something indescribably disgusting about it.
