I get $10 on DL and $5 for HiltonHonors cards. They both end 12/31/21. Weird promo, total waste for Amex. Which Amex owner doesnt buy food outside of a grocer?

$5 monthly Amex credit is for the no annual fee Hilton cards. If you pay the $95 or whatever a year, you get $10 a month.

With home cooked requisite noodles for a birthday - we prepared 2 types 😉 ..

Fried crispy noodles / crispy yee mee from Pontian

Mee goreng ( usual yellow noodles used )
I always thought it was a Filipino tradition about noodles on your Birthday, but see it may be an Asian culture thing. However, per my wife's family it is supposed to be "long noodles for long life." That is why we always have Pancit Canton, vs. Pancit Guisado on birthdays. The noodles pictured above are very short and would not be eaten on a birthday or else be considered a short life span ahead,

Last night it was Tom Kine's grilled and roasted venison filet, with beetroots. It's accompanied by an incredibly rich shallot, tomato and garlic sauce, all quite delicious. I decided to drink my last bottle of Ch Brown Lamartine 2010 with it - its 23 predecessors have been not great but this tasted fantastic with the venison, and then it was an unhappy combination with the brie and pecorino cheese afterwards.

The poh piah was a lovely gift - lovingly prepared by violinist family friend and former SSO ( Singapore Symphony Orchestra ) concert master ❣️

May add more photos later .

Fried crispy noodles / crispy yee mee from Pontian

Mee goreng ( ‘ usual ‘ yellow noodles used )

Nonya chap chye

Poh piah fillings

Poh piah skins

Using the infamous “ good morning “ towels to keep poh piah “ skins “ moist

A done poh piah

Mango cake - one of few cakes - gifts from octogenarian / nonagenarian friends

FLO - Fudge Lovers Only - cake by Lana .. ooh ..

Chocolate fudge cake - Lana

French cheese selection from Les Amis

The cheeses came like this

Also Muscat grapes , etc , tarts from Tarte

Ice cream - one of 3 flavours chosen ; chestnut ( marron ) , hazelnut and pistachio

Chef ‘ s Sebastien ' s Signature Tarte Aux Pommes , think overdid with one to spare 😉

A generous quarter slice

2 types of chilli sauces were prepared , one with garlic[/QUOTE]

Yes , we had delicious leftovers for meals after !
Also primarily Indian below

Crispy prata with fish curry , Indian rojak and gravy / sauces

Fishballs , variety of fishcakes include spicy otak

Putu mayam , with coconut and sugar

Just look at the centre of FLO - the “ molten “ fudge centre !!

teddybear99 , the noodles are not short - the photos may not be doing justice - but soft for the mee goreng .. & because there are 2 nonagenarians dining ( long life attained as is - beyond 3 score & 10 at 4 score and 10 for the birthday boy ! , and even more for the other nonagenarian ! The noodles were not extra long for ease in consumption . For the Chinese , it is important for noodles to denote long life as you also mentioned .
Perhaps should have said very senior for the birthday “ boy “ and not merely senior

For tonight ‘ s dinner we had more of the cakes to enjoy including FLO and Tarte Aux Pommes .
Also the putu mayam , photo of one below as it is to be eaten .
Some photos of what we had .

Lotus root and peanut soup

Sweet & sour pork

Prawn fritters

Bak choy and French beans with minced porker

Fried bee hoon / rice “ vermicelli “

Mango , orange , papaya , persimmon , pineapple and water melon .

Putu mayam , add the coconut and sugar to one ‘ s liking .

Thanks iluv2fly for helping out , still need to figure out on posting / quotes ..

Dinner tonight will be baked chicken thighs with Spanish rice and corn. I’m a little bummed. The impending Nor’easter is going to keep me off of the water the entire week. I really wanted some fresh Black sea bass for a panko crusted miso sea bass. Plus some escovitch and more. Oh well….there’s always next week.

Doesn't mean you can't have it twice. I've had days where all I ate was cereal... Had other food in the house, but this was the most convenient considering I was stuck on a webex all day.

Lol true true... just this time I only had it in the early afternoon. I was pretty stuffed after the dumplings!

Turkey taco night
I also mentioned the braslvr style taco with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and Turkey. We lacked tomato and had tomatillo salsa. I really enjoy this supper now that Ive tried to have at least one taco done pseudo-braslvr style where I swap the tomato with salsa. I still sometimes cheat and add something else like jalapeo :-)
