Interesting - we have friends from Maine who insist that potato chips are a necessary accompaniment to pizza. I'm not sure whether this is a peculiarity with Mainers or just these people.

Growing up in NE Ohio, potato chips were the usual accompaniment to pizza. That and a 2 liter bottle of Coke. Gold'n Krisp chips in particular, which are the greasiest and saltiest chips I've ever had.

Once I moved to CA my friends were like um maybe something healthier like salad instead.

Dinner last night at Fields and Ivy for their sixth anniversary celebration.

I usually get their hot chicken sandwich, though decided to try something different and went with the “you drive me caprese” burger. It had sliced mozzarella, pesto aioli, diced tomato, red onion and olive oil on a butter bun.

Greasier than Miss Vickie's? I like kettle chips, but I just feel gross after even a small bag. (and you're talking to someone who loves fresh chinese dough sticks (yu-tiao).

Salads are nice (depending on the salad and the dressing)

I just finished a breakfast croissant. I had to wipe my fingers clean after every bite. The grease is one of the reasons I rarely eat potato chips, especially kettle chips.

I can't recall having Miss Vickie's before.

I was curious, so I looked up the ingredient list for the Gold'n Krisp and it looks like they are fried in an oil blend that contains lard.

Avoid BK's croissandwiches.... you'll be wiping after you finish... the one nearest me puts a lot of butter.... interestingly enough, McMuffins don't have the same effect and I find their sausage patties greasier.

That's likely why they're addictive. I remember someone mentioning why McD fries were so addictive and then it came out that in some countries they added some beef tallow into the oil.
