Fun poker play date with friends last night - host served Indian…

chickpeas chollie (like Chana but a less liquidity based Chana)
rice
regional vegetable mixed stew with 20+ ingredients including baby eggplant

store bought chicken tikka masala

the homemade Indian cuisine had an amazing spice. Super yum.

Now that the atmospheric river has paused, crabs are again coming in to the docks. We picked up 4 today. 2.5lb ea.

Alive and well at noon...

In the pot at 12:30.

First 2 out at 12:46.

Ms. b picked the first 2 for dinner tonight and tomorrow. The other 2 will be made into crab cakes and frozen for future yum.

I'm jealous of people who can steam crabs. My only experience did not go well, and resulted in the friend who provided me with crabs from the Chesapeake Bay decided it was better to just steam them for me after that.

Publix was selling these pumpernickel loaves over the weekend. I thought why not and turned one into a sub. 4 types of cold cuts; ham, turkey, hard salami and garlic bologna. Swiss and aged white cheddar. Iceberg lettuce, tomato slices and slivered Vidalia onion. Sub dressing and extra oregano and garlic powder. It was about a foot long and fed three with half leftover.

I know nothing about cooking east coast crab, but Dungenness are simply boiled for 15-17 minutes in very salty water (1/4 cup/gallon). Easy-peasy.

In my humble opinion, spaghetti is an acceptable side dish for any and all meals. But I've always loved pasta.

I don't think you even need salt for east coast crab. The problem wasn't boiling or steaming them. The problem was getting them into the pot. There was an unfortunate incident with a crab running around the apartment where I lived for a while.
