lol I offset my animal cholesterol with daily exercise and more anti cholesterol foods from the Kaiser chart. (Peanut butter, avocado, salmon). I’m trying to avoid Statin meds.

plus the severe reduction of restaurant meals helps both my health and wallet.

Its a rather beloved place in the neighborhood. A Taco Bell is 75 yards away, so a real penny pincher is already going there for their crappy 99 cent tacos.

If tacos hit $5, Id probably find an alternative.
Well, that's the free market for you right? If you have a great product, you can charge more. But even then, you can only charge so much. If you have to give 4 servers an extra $5 an hour for 40 hours a week, that's $3200 a month less profit. Even if only half is charged through to customers, I bet that's a buck more per taco!

Then you have the more expensive restaurants. I recall a couple friends I had right after college who had been waiting tables since high school and through college. They didn't want to give those jobs up because as more experienced servers, they could get Friday and Saturday nights - and would often make $1000-$2000 in a weekend for working about 16 hours...and that was at the minimum server wage. One guy ONLY worked weekends and an occasional weeknight and had no other job.

This place has no servers. Only counter service, and food prep, and cooks.

$3.60 for a taco in AZ feels high yet I dont know what they cost in my city because Ive not entered a taqueria or mexican restaurant since September when I fetched enchiladas for some people.

anyway consumers will show their feedback regarding the tacos. The restaurant will either keep or change pricing. I just got 4 froyos at a self-serve / weight place. $28 before tip. Its a treat type place and definitely yummy expensive.

Before the storm, we had 2 yogurt places in the same strip mall. Competition drove the price down until ultimately one went out of business. I think it was $5 for all you could fit in a 12 ounce styrofoam container. I learned how to stack add-ins very well.

impressive - our local is $0.89/ounce. None of that $0.42 bargain :-)
I probably had froyo a total of twice during the pandemic inbetween March 2020 to April 2021. Now Ive had it twice in 7 days (Thursday to Thursday - Is this 7 or 8 days??) :-)

Do you stack the add-ins first and then put the yogurt on top, so as it melts/settles, it fills in the gaps?
corky likes this.

That is an excellent idea. I'm not a big dessert eater, but let my niece talk me into going to one of these places last summer. Put a bunch of my favorite toppings on of course. Then I took a bite and it was a disgusting sugar bomb. I finished almost half before I threw it away. I think your method would work out much better.

its more of a pack n stack approach. I used a spoon to push it to the bottom. I also found I could stack higher using multiple layers of whipped topping as an adhesive. I probably had the tallest cups of the day. For the record, we would share a cup between us and didnt waste any.

This may be why my froyo place (yogurtland) doesn't give out spoons until the end when you pay. Although since it is pay by the ounce, I would think that they encourage packing the cup.
I was platinum status at yogurtland....I hope they extend status like the airlines do.

When I visit a froyo place, I opt for that as opposed to lunch or dinner. I usually end up not eating my entire portion because my tongue gets too cold.
