Traveling today, breakfast was in stages:

- Bad hotel room coffee, bagel
- Biscotti and cinnamon corn snacks on US Airways
- Biscuits and gravy at Brookfield Farms at CLT with chocolate milk, very tasty ^

We're in Thailand so have mainly been feasting on pad thai and various types of Thai green curries with garlic rice.

Envious!

:)

Sundaylunch@Hampshire.

Roast beef and gravy and hot horseradish sauce, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes in goose fat, Brussels sprouts and a bottle of Rioja.

Doze in front of the log fire.

Tonight will mostly be egg and cress sandwiches. Eggs are boiled and ready for action.

The opposite for me. Lunch was salad of pea shoots, butter lettuce, edamame beans, cucumber and artichoke hearts. Dinner will be roast lamb with mint sauce, roast spuds, carrots and French beans washed down with some 05 claret. Gu for pud. Can't wait.

I had my first takeaway burger in two decades last night - and it was sensational.
I'm not a takeaway sort of person and definitely not one for mass-produced burgers.
But heading back to the airport last night after a weekend of beer and tomfoolery in Amsterdam with Mrs Showbizguru we fell into this place - www.burger-bar.nl - and found three types of beef on offer ( Irish,Aged Angus US beef and Wagyu ).
The wagyu with goat's cheese and great fries reminded me just how really good some takeaway food can be and how crap most of the rest are.
Beer, more beer then even more beer then burgers.
Nomnomnomnom.

Had a marathon study session at my house so I picked up a couple pizzas. Sure gave us a greasy energy boost we needed to power through everything.

Lunch: Curry samosas made from leftover Thanksgiving dinner mashed potatoes for lunch

Dinner: Homemade ramen with a ginger trotter soup base, tea egg, spiced trotter and baby bok choys. It's only Monday and I'm already sick of recycling leftovers from Thanksgiving :( :p

Well, you need to tell us where did you eat while in the city of light.

Today .... I (we) have been eating ....

Dinner@Ireland

An old standby - Shepherd's Pie.
Boiled the lamb mince with garlic, onion, spring onions, grated carrots and threw in some petit pois at the last minute.
Strained the juice and bunged everything into a pot, covered with mashed steamed Maris Pipers and grated mature cheddar.
A crispy 40 minutes in the Aga and served with the reduced juices mixed with some red wine and oyster sauce.
Not a word from the wife and kids until the plates were cleared - always a good sign.
I had mine later after an early evening quart in the local.
Happy days.

The rundown:

La Fontaine de Mars (braised leeks with vinaigrette, "all you can eat" cassoulet, Berthillon poire sorbet), L'Epigramme* (heavenly foie gras, dorade, creme brulee), Le Gran Colbert (French onion soup, 7 hour braised beef with mashed potatoes, warm tarte tartin with vanilla ice cream), Chez Lena et Mimile (parmesan risotto with chicken, duck breast with port sauce, mouse au chocolat), Cafe Charlot (braised veal with tagliatelle and a couple of scoops of Berthillon chocolat and caramel.), too many sandwich mixte to mention and cheap crepes tonight by the Beaubourg.

Not a bad meal among them.

*Star of the show - my third visit, with hopes of returning many more times and as our friends from London called it, "brilliant!" :)

From my freezer:
the last of my perogies from Alycia's Restaurant in Winnipeg.

I still can't believe the restaurant closed...:(
