Sunday supper @ Hampshire.

A kilo of shell-on prawns - just as they were - with a couple of fresh baguettes.

Had a Ribeye tonite at Tony Roma's. Side of mushrooms on top of the steak to boot. Although, I don't like the cabernet sauce served with the mushrooms, but its a great combination, with a side of broccoli mmmm.

Also, the side salads they now serve are huge. Its almost a meal by itself, and a great addition at only $4.

Equipped with gift cards from Costco (gifted to myself of course), save $20 on the entire bill including tip. A regular stop for our family probably 3 or 4 times a month.

All you can eat beef ribs runs the last time this first Wednesday in November. I'm in Canada, not sure if its different in the states?

Have you tried soft-shell prawns? I had those buttery delights at a Japanese food trade show in New York recently, but I'm not sure how widespread their appearance at markets/restaurants is.

Ah so, you've been suspended. No rush for a response...

Went to Papa Mojo's Roadhouse, a Creole joint in Durham today and had Andouille and Cochon sausage with potato salad and a $5 Margarita:

For Halloween we decided not to hand out candy so we went to Regency Palace Chinatown Calgary. Had their Hot Pot buffet tonite where a soup is cooking on the table. Just add food and mmmmm.

Kids didn't like it at first but eventually had noodles and myriad of food that satisfied the taste buds. I think the Hot Pot is healthier than the smorgasbord buffet. There was a tonne of seafood, meats, vegetables, etc to choose from.:)

At a landmark conference today and ate the Greenwood Inn's lunch buffet which was excellent. Currently chewing on a shrimp stirfrytake out from Christie's Rotisserie Chicken off of 32nd Avenue NE Calgary.

Lunch ...

Lunch@Hampshire UK Today ...

Well .... I know I don't know what I am doing and it isn't authentic anything .... but I did what I thought was right ie mix all the bits that we like into a meal that we like. I know it doesn't have a name but this is what it was. So don't shout at me. :)

I marinaded some pork bellies with a home made concoction ... fresh ginger, fresh garlic and chillis with dark soy, honey and sugar, some tomato ketchup and some fino sherry all blitzed and marinaded for 4 days. Then slow cooked it for a few hours enclosed and opened it up to crisp the skin a bit. I made a pilaf with basmati, stock, peas, pine nuts ad far too much slow caramelised onions. That is what we had for lunch. Authentic anything "no" - tasty "yes". There was also white dry wine and " 'er indoors" and me had a lovely long lunch.

Now for a doze to think of our first night at Satay Street in Singapore in a few weeks ......

I'm watching what I eat the rest of the week. I can't believe I gained 5 pounds on Tuesday. I weighed myself over the long weekend and was at 230.5 pounds, and I get on the scale at the Y and I was almost 236 pounds. I'm eating lots of salad and pounding down the veggies.. this swimming an hour a day for the rest of the week hopefully.

For my 6'5" frame its not bad, but I was hoping to get down to 225 lbs, and now I'm going the other way.

Went to the Salt Box, a shrimp shack here in Durham. Had a shrimp roll and some shellfish chowder. Excellent of course, and we picked up a sixer of High Life on the way over:

Made some beef curry with potatoes and carrots tonight, ate it over rice...pretty good.

Sure beat the ham and cheese sandwich and chips I had for lunch!
