breakfast... bowl of corn flakes, and mixed greens with shredded mozzarella and raspberry vinaigrette

The final serving of last week's Japanese curry for breakfast this morning. In addition to the usual onion, potatoes, and carrots, I added zucchini, celery, and bell pepper to clear out my veg drawer the day before my grocery box delivery, essentially doubling the recipe. The leftovers lasted a week and I loved every bite.

Very good. I pulled it apart piece by piece and smashed filling on each. Sweet butternut, a hint of rosemary, and little bursts of salt.

You use those curry cubes, yes? I love them except for the extremely high level of sodium.

Wonton soup.

That's exactly why I chose it. I've been sick since last Friday, and needed some comfort.

I made a fennel leek potato gratin for dinner. It was so time consuming, I didn’t have the energy to make anything to go with it.

Garnished in the last ten minutes with heirloom grape tomatoes and bacon lardons.

Yes, I bought the cubes for the very first time. I didn’t feel the extra sodium in my fingers, so I must have thinned it out enough with the extra vegetables.

Hopefully not Covid!
I could eat three or four bowls of the stuff in one sitting!

Costco A5 Wagyu

Just tried pan frying the first one of the Costco Wagyu steaks I got. Online cooking methods mostly say to be careful with grilling them, so thought I’d try pan frying the first one. It didn’t get seared quite as much as I’d like, but still a super tasty rare steak. With a side of broccoli and cauliflower.

Friends dropped in unexpectedly and we missed lunch. Mrs BV made me take her to La Palma at 3:00 for whatever you call the meal between lunch and dinner.

Carnitas, rice, beans, pico de gallo, corn tortillas. Dos Equis amber.

Trader Joes vegetable and shrimp gyoza (two different varieties, not combined) to test out homemade sichuan chili crisp. The chili crisp came out really well, but it was way more work than I expected.

breakfast... more cranberry turkey burgers with melted mozzarella on a bed of mixed greens
