For a heavier fare, two adjacent restaurants are the legendary ones that serve beef shortribs in a sizzling cauldron, as showing here by Mark Wiens:
Heads up California residents - my favorite ice cream Blue Bunny is on sale at Vons, Albertsons, and Safeways. Ending Tuesday, $2.88 for 46 oz tub.

clean air so I grilled Aidell Cajun sausage (andouille?) today; had it with leftover tangine-style stew of garbanzo / potato / carrot / apricot.
which flavors did you buy and which did you eat today?
sigh I cannot buy any ice cream for awhile. Too long on inventory.
Gorgeous - which seasonings?

I didn't buy any because our freezer is packed - no more space! Maybe on Tuesday I'll either get mint or pistachios!

My Saturday morning ritual was to walk up to the markets about 2 minutes from my house and get a laksa from one of the stalls up there and sit and read the paper. Then the pandemic hit and the markets were closed for six months. They're back now and the laksa is as a good as ever.

Growing up was your house like this--everyone ate something different for meals?

Had some leftover roasted balsamic veggies, so got out the griddler and cheese and made sandwiches on my favorite - La Brea whole grain. With my home made sweet dills and the bottom of the chips

raw tofu slices and raw cucumber
Making myself noodle soup with Ling Ling chicken potstickers, dried Tainan noodles (prepackaged and bought from Costco in March - I have over half a case!), frozen peas & spinach. Wish me luck. Ooh Ill add some cilantro.
our grill is literally outside the kitchen - the nana wall is already open so its a 30-second Walk from kitchen to grill and back. Easy.
growing up, I had to eat what my parents cooked; sometimes I had more choices at restaurants. No need to subject my family (and myself) to this now that Im an adult.
Is that a fun Fiestaware plate? Gorgeous.

big yay. We have several that still get daily use (including the raw tofu on a saucer) but we mostly use local ceramist Heath for everyday plates & bowls. Its all lovely.
