Egg whites, bacon, wheat toast, and applesauce with lots of coffee for breakfast. Potato soup with chicken, bacon, and cheese, plus breadsticks for lunch. Turkey, spinach, and red onion meatballs for dinner.

I think I'm going on a diet starting today. These threads have got me eating way more than I need to over the last few months. I noticed I've put on 5kgs.

Made Nigella Lawson's "French Lasagne" this morning (savory baked croissant pudding). It's pretty good, but instead of the cheddar it calls for, I think I'd "French" it up a bit next time and use gruyere.

Socially distanced and masked hike in Land’s End, Sf - basically a nice path along the Pacific Ocean that’s in the middle range of San Francisco, just super west. 10k-ish steps. Post-hike outdoor luncheon. Btw still many walkers not wearing masks at all, even when getting near others. We are just doomed.

1906 (THE QUAKE) in Dutch crunch
Pepper Turkey, Hot Molinari Salami, Pepper Jack Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickle, Pepperoncini, Bell Pepper Mayo
add avocado

sandwich on dutch crunch: oven roasted turkey, mayo, red onion, tomato, lettuce, bacon, cheddar, avocado

a shared sprinkle cookie from Wise Sons
japanese green tea cream wafer sandwiches - like an Oreo but with green tea cream and wafers.

I’ve had some sips of water and look forward to returning home to drink more water, after I fetch my child from camp.

Again, why ruin a good sandwich with avocado?

It’s not easy being green.

I don't know what dutch crunch is but it sounds yummy! I assume that you didn't bring these sandwiches on the hike for a picnic because of the ice cream. And yes--definitely avocado on a sandwich. :tu:
I don't wear my mask when walking but I put it on if I am approaching someone if I can't get far enough away from them. I assume that you are talking about paths where it isn't practical to move to the side like it is when walking on the sidewalk.

Heck, sometimes avocado IS the sandwich. As in avocado toast.

Oh yes. I had it about 1 hour ago for breakfast with Vegemite.

Avocado toast is also the reason millennials can't afford to buy a home. ;)

I was with you until you threw vegemite in there. Hell no.
I get it--I will only buy avocados when they are on sale....unlike those instant gratification millenials.

Except on that combination. It sticks out as not going with the other foods.

Maybe dutch crunch is a San Francisco thing?
we met at the Land’s End main parking lot and did the 3.5-mile hike as a loop. We consumed after the hike. We chatted so kept on masks since we don’t cohabitate. The paths aren’t super wide and often people walked with no masks near their faces; it’s not like keeping the mobile in pocket or purse. On the hill near my home, people wear masks although there’s wider paths.

lol a lot of millennials can afford both the toast and the home.
so did we discuss the Australian salad sandwich with raw (uncooked) beets? Do you know or like it?

i have failed with avocado buying so I’m best off just buying store-made guacamole.

I'm a millennial, I also own a home. That was more in jest because around here the boomers blame the lack of home ownership amongst young people on overseas holidays and avo on toast.

Those beetroots are cooked, not raw. I love a salad sandwich, they're hard to find these days. My grandmother used to make a sandwich that was straight out of a can beetroot on the whitest of white bread with nothing else but too much butter.

Push down on the top of it where it was connected to the tree. If it's firm but has some give then it's perfect. If it's too soft then the avo is past its best, if you can't push it down the avo is unripe.

Or even buy hard as a rock...they ripen quickly if not refrigerated. Even faster if you store it in a brown paper bag.
