Gorgeous caprese. Back to 60 degree summer days. Phew. I still can’t handle 75.

Oh 75 even sounds lovely. We are hitting 95+ every day with humidity. Hard to be outside except in the pool!

Move to Phoenix. When you can’t handle 75 degrees in the summer, you’re in trouble.

Last night, at La Petite Maison (the London branch, recently revamped) an excellent meal with entrees of Salade de Mais et Grenade, Croquettes de Brandade, Cevice of Sea Bass and Pesto and Artichaut a L'Huile d'Olive et Anchois, followed by a main course of Paella.

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

Just curious if you're sitting outside and, if not, are you at all concerned?

yeah now I’m wearing a bathing suit as we will go to a pool. Scheduled appt. so excited.

I don’t know if I’ll miss restaurants. I love the house. I miss certain vices and I don’t miss restaurants.

Garlic/soy marinated tri-tip, cheesy corn casserole, and apple cabbage poppy seed slaw, eaten as cold leftovers while working. Still not bad.

Garden yielded the first cherry peppers and banana peppers today. I have both chopped up and in a nice quick pickling brine.

Seated inside. It was done very cleverly: each table was laid but they were only using about half ot them meaning you got the ambience and the buzz but weren’t in fact very close to anyone. I felt safer than I do in my local Waitrose.

as you may know, we have zero indoor dining in San Francisco and adjacent areas.

A great Mark Twain quote...I used to think of it often when I lived there.

I have taken to making a big salad for lunch a couple days a week. I guess it's really just a chef salad variant...spring mix, tomatoes, red bell pepper, carrots, a couple of hard boiled eggs, some shredded cheese. Today I also added the last piece of deli ham in the fridge. And a Diet Coke.

I'm 42 and finally discovered how to boil eggs perfectly every time.

Seems you’re doing better than Prince Charles. Supposedly they cook 4-6 per day for him, to get the one perfect one he wants.
