I have no idea who ever though that mixing orange juice with champagne would be a good idea, but I speculate it was a medieval all inclusive cruise line trying to cheat their customers out of free-flow champers.

The reality is for me that I felt that not having alcohol from the earliest available moment in the day seemed to be a bit blasphemous. It is a wonderful start to the day, particularly that horrible gap between waking up and seeing the really cheerful early morning news and your first lunch time imbibitions. After all, it is our (us Brits at least ...) heritage. We use to drink beer in place of water ie "small beer" in towns where safe and decent spring water wasn't available. And it is our sworn duty to be mistrustful of water from a tap now. Isn't it?

I only give her English brunch to justify the champagne. It's under the radar. If I gave her champagne and corn flakes she'd smell a rat. So I do brunch and champagne and she doesn't start moaning about me drinking.

Cunning plan eh ...........?

Nice to see priorities observed. A little organisation (and psychology) is all one needs.

Got me a leftover burger from work last night. The customer cancelled after their food was made so it's all mine. Nice breaking up my usual brown bag lunch with something a little more fun.

Now, now, a mimosa is quite delightful - but certainly best with prosecco or cava, not a fine Champagne.

But I have to ask: spaghetti with breakfast/brunch? Is that a British thing?

No, baked beans is the norm, but I realised that for us spaghetti was much nicer.

By one of those eerie strokes of coincidental fate ... I just finished a pizza. Literally a few minutes ago.

There was a bit of spare dough left over and some rioja ....

Not the prettiest, but it did the trick. Thai Red Chicken Curry. Should have used red bell pepper instead for the look, didn't have limes unfortunately, and I put the chicken in a tad too early so it was a little overdone. I also should have packed the rice in the ringmold better and served in a bowl. Still though I quite enjoyed it and it hit the spot.

Went to Mami Nora's, a Peruvian chicken joint for lunch today. Can you believe all this was only $20?

Todays lunch ... (picky a bit steamed due to the wokkery ...) and this afternoons double-choccy-fudgey muffin - before and after.
