I've never visited this forum before, but one thing I miss about Omaha is Louie's Burger Lust Café. One of the better burgers I've ever had. I'm coming back for breakfast next time I'm in town. Everybody says it's awesome!
Too bad you couldn't've stuck around til the 20th. One of my favorite bands - Railroad Earth - will be playing over at The Slowdown (Scroll down) in Omaha. Given your interest in history, you might like some of their songs... As for what I'm looking forward to eating today, in about 30 minutes I'm heading into town to do laundry and - while I wait - having lunch down the road at Pad Thai, one of over a dozen Thai restaurants in the North Star Borough. I'm jonesin' for a plate of Pad Hed and their's is far and away the best in my humble opinion. It should be noted that the quiet competition between all of these Thai restaurants results in a very high standard of Thai food here in Fairbanks - on the whole much better than I've ever had down in the Lower 48. Should any of you find yourselves visiting Alaska's Interior, I think you'll find that stopping in for a plate of Thai food at most any of our eateries will be time well spent. But my favorite dish is Panang Curry ;) i had an extra spicy one a few nights ago :D I forgot to eat today but had a little snack here and there (i got too into working i guess) |
The girl made me dinner too. Fried chicken wings, broccoli cheese and rice casserole and biscuits. With enough leftover for lunch tomorrrow!

Breakfast: a couple thin slices of my homemade bread from last night toasted with peanut butter, a cappuccino, and a cup of coffee
Lunch: the Gaucho salad from Fresh & Co with the vegetarian "chicken" and a couple pieces of their delicious bread. A can of seltzer water. Dinner: probably boeuf bourgignon and some more of my bread! Not drinking tonight as of now (I say this every day at about this time and then get home and want a cocktail) |
A lamb burger and blue crab soup at Bleu Olive in Durham:

:D Mind sharing the stands you're getting that food from, if you remember? We're visiting for our first time in April, and all of those look delicious enough to look for. |

I also noticed the lack of Cashews at 80 Middle Rd since last summer.
Sunday is 40 sticks night for me and DW. Are there still "tigers" around the neighbourhood? We tried #8 "Best Satay" last night and had some prawns with some mixed meat sticks which were wonderful. 2/3 is still better for the meats though ... and the Tiger ladies are in control as usual. |

Looks beautiful! (Aside from the woefully cashew-less nut bowl, of course :))

Apart from the two dishes at the bottom which is from Maggies (I mentioned her place before ...) I cannot remember the stalls as I simply pick stalls at random that have queues and I just eat what everyone else is eating. Planning I think is the wrong approach. :) I will try not to deplete your cellar on my arrival. 2/3 for meat, 8 for prawn. got it! |

There hasn't been any cashews for over a year now and it is quite a blow. I bring my own now. The choice of two sauvignons has been cut to one cheap one, but to keep me quiet they came back with a few for me to taste, and now a contented bunny with my own private selection being kept for me in the lounge fridge. Happy days!
