Where can you buy Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label for big bucks? Why in Canada of course! In Ontario, Veuve Clicquot retails for $67.85 at the L.C.B.O., in B.C. it is $69.99, in Quebec it is $71 and in Newfoundland it is $74.66 per bottle.

Either way, the answer is yes, Veuve Clicquot at $75 is better than Andre at $5.
I just threw out a price number, yes it is MUCH better than Andre's--but per my question, is it 15x better?

If I have fresh squeezed orange juice, I'll take the Andre and save my money.

And you can take solace in the fact no grapes were harmed in the process.

LOL - This is great (not too mention true) - Thanks I did really need a chuckle this morning.

On a side note, I can't believe it took me this long to realize FT had a Champagne thread. I am such a Champagne afficianado that I have made it a Friday routine to have a bottle of either Champagne (or a good sparkling like Roderer Estate or Mumm Napa) to celebrate the end of the work week. I do have to comment that I there is a massive variation in Champagne pricing depending on where you live and I am perpetually jealous of those who live in CA & NY near great wine retailers who sell Champagne for a good $20+ less per bottle then in my area (and many others).

That is great news. There were some great deals in these parts in the past year, especially Piper-Heidsieck and Laurent-Perrier. What I don't understand it why it's cheaper here than in Paris, but I'm glad it is (except when I'm there).

new trade routes from algeria and slovenia. maybe just from south west france.

on another line,
pinot noir champagne has become quite available in the dc area. very smooth, i really like the wine for an appertief, and i really like the price (us$20). only place i saw it regularly before was in saintsbury, at about 12 lbs english.

nicholis feuellente 40-40-20 chard is around for $20 a bottle. finally too much wine to hold. the prices are coming down big time.

Had hard time deciding on few 'new' champagnes (Some Pierre Paillard's and some Franck Bonville's), so the final decision was to order four new ones (and two 'old' ones) for testing. So I look forward for a new delivery

Where in the DC area have you seen Nicolas Feuillatte at $20/bottle????

I've seen it on sale for as low as $26 but not $20????

Decided that ms. dlroads and I deserve a 'decompress' weekend dinner for all my recent overtime work, and her dedicated help. So, we went to NS and I brought with me a 2007 Deutz Champagne Brut Ros Millsim. That was a good choice, and a super match with the fish dish, as well as the Risotto appetizer, and the shrimps for ms. dlroads. We also gave a taste to the house, of course. Ms. DLroads loved the color and bubbles. Not as bubblish as the Paillard (smaller bubbles) but as consistent). Certainly one to drink again, though.
My verdict-certainly very good, but compared with Gosset and Pierre Paillard... well, it is a hard one for Deutz to beat. We should open them once side by side for a final ruling.
