Jai Alai IPA from Cigar City out of Tampa.

  • Royal Guard (Santiago, Chile) at the DL SkyClub (tasted like Budweiser in a different label)
  • A bunch of IPAs and APAs at Cerveceria Manush in Bariloche Argentina -- no real standouts but fun to taste some local brews that went beyond the standard lager
  • Patagonia Weisse on the ski slopes in Bariloche -- an average Belgian but very tasty after a day of skiing in Argentina

Grabbed a couple at the nearby Whole Foods today...

-Omnipollo Fatamorgana Double IPA (better than the average version of this)
-Southern Tier Cold Press Coffee Pumking (the cold brew-style makes this a very smooth / enjoyable beer to savor)

I'm jealous you can get that where you are. I had a few of their beers in Sweden, and they're excellent.

A birthday gift in the post from BamaVol Jr #1 in Oregon:

Bubble Stash IPA from Hop Valley
Crush strawberry sour from 10Barrel
Kissed by Melons sour from Stickmen
Exuberance Summer Sour from Worthy
Cumulus Tropicalus IPA from Coldfire
Hawaiian Haze IPA from Sunriver

So far, I've drunk the Summer Sour and Kissed by Melons and enjoyed them both. A couple more tonight.

Sunday afternoon at Chicago Fire Brewing in Leesburg (which felt more like a combination biker bar and hot doggery), their house IPA and Oktoberfest. I tried a sip of their Watermelon Crawl and couldn't finish a 1 ounce sample.

Grabbed the updated version of Lord Hobo's flagship Imperial IPA, called 'Hazy Boomsauce'. It's quite good, and at 8.8% ABV it packs a little punch as well.

I've been trying to clear out my fridge of all remnant beers from parties and guests past before going on my next buying spree.

Sam Adams Boston Lager - 2 left
Stella Artois - 2 left

Tonight, Elevation Little Mo' Porter.

I have about six other craft beers--mainly fruit sours--to get through.

I enjoy the care packages from my kids so much, I am determined to only buy mixed sixes in the future. It's what I do at craft bars. Why should I do something different at home?

I have rather non traditional recommendation - Jovaru Alus - ALE - from Lithuania

Sam Adams Boston Lager to accompany a blackened grouper sandwich at a beach bar after a long Saturday in the office.

Grabbed Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout yesterday - really delicious and better than the Kentucky version, IMO.

I enjoy trading and sharing so that I can have a can of something, maybe 2 if it's really awesome, and then can pass the rest along to someone else.

I've found a trend in craft breweries recently to not do flights or pours less than 8 ounces (mainly at higher-end breweries). I get that they want you to enjoy the beer for what it is and not switch between 4, 8, 12, or more beers on tap, but at the same time, I also want to not be hammered and have a habit of leaving 2 ounces of that 8 ounce pour in the glass when I go to get another...

I've never had a brewery refuse to provide a flight or samples.
