My brother tried to apply a VDB voucher and a customer service voucher to a DL ticket he was buying and the website wouldn't allow it so he had to call in. What's especially frustrating is it was his first VDB and I was explaining how great it was to take bumps with Delta as unlike United or American you didn't have to go to the airport to use the voucher because you could do it all online! Figures DL.dumb would make a liar out of me.

SortingBug

I am looking at booking options for ATL-IAH-ATL later this month.

I'm viewing flights based on schedule because I need to see all my options due to some time constraints (but I've seen this when I view by price, too).

I have 3 pages of outgoing fight options (59), default sorted to "Best Match". Options 1-20 are on page one and I sort by "Departure" time. The page sorts fine.

None of those flights leave late enough in the day that I am interested in, so I click on page 2 (either by the '2' or the '>' for next page). Results are now auto-re-sorted to "Best Match".

I've got to see my options by time, short of having to take them all down and analyze my options offline.

Thanks.

Anyone having issues changing seat assignments? I keep trying, but it keeps telling me there was an error and my previous seat assignments have been reserved.

Yeah, that's a long-time problem. Also I can't enter my contact information for alerts - I get a "Page not found" error.

This stuff isn't rocket science; it is what you get when you pay Indian web programmers $8/hr. Think you're saving money, Delta?

Getting seat assignments to stick have been broken for weeks, if not months now. Keep calling up and asking the agents to assign seats for you... maybe they'll realize and fix it when call volume for stupid stuff like this keeps going up.

Hah... and you think they get $8/hr over there? Its probably a cut rate software sweat shop where they're getting more like $8/day judging by the "functionality".

I see your point, but I have a friend who just visited his shop over there, and he told me $8/hr is about the going rate for a web programmer in India. And that's not a bad living over there.

I just stumbled across this exclusive look inside the main DL server room:

This explains why I can't change seats, can't get my C/I to stick on any PNR, I never receive any IROPs notifications (I never have) and the mobile app functions (when they aren't giving me error messages) are obnoxiously slow. It must be because someone in ATL has to go change a reel or two.

Changing seats is still broken... for what about 2+ months now?
Changing a seat and then trying to save it results in the itinerary reloading and the following red error appearing on the page:

Nothing new...but, I am sooo sick of inputting paramenters (ie afternoon flights), only to have the only option come back as a 7:15 am flight (even though there are plenty of flights available in the afternoon). Come on, DL. Either get it right, or don't offer the 'supposed' options for search . Even though I knew the website wouldn't give me what I wanted, I was stupid enough to try a few times to coerce it (shame on me ). It took me one try to get what I was looking for on AA.

Amen! I prefer the UAL.com option where if you click "between Noon and 6PM" that's all you get! Orbitz also has that feature so one would think DL.Dumb offer it too.

Please fix your seat changing options, I'm sick of "We were unable to assign seats to one or more passengers. Original seat assignments for affected passengers have been retained".

Then, after playing around the site when I go back to "My trips" I get something like "sorry you have no upcoming trips."

My upgrade cleared and for the second straight time this has happened, I was not able to select a new seat. I could open the seatmap, click on the seat I wanted, but when I clicked "Save Seats and Exit" I got an error message. I had to call Delta to move from 6B to 3A, a waste of both my time and the agent's.

I sent an email to Delta about this, fat lot of good that will do.

What would happen if I actually book this flight?

Searched for SEA-DTW 8/20-8/23, this is what I got back (totally unedited):

Outbound Sat, 20 Aug 2011

7:43pm DTW 8:18pm
23 Aug DTW 1-Stop 82-25
ATL Layover

Sat, 23 Aug
Departs: 7:43pm from MI, Detroit-Wayne County (DTW) Delta 1823 23 Aug
Arrives: 9:42pm in Seattle, WA (SEA)
4 hr 59 min

Layover in Seattle, WA (SEA)

Sat, 20 Aug
Departs: 6:15pm from GA, Atlanta (ATL) Delta 706 20 Aug
Arrives: 8:18pm in Detroit-Wayne County, MI (DTW)

Return Tue, 23 Aug 2011

7:43pm DTW 9:42pm SEA Nonstop 4 hr 59 min
Tue, 23 Aug
Departs: 7:43pm from MI, Detroit-Wayne County (DTW) Delta 1823
Arrives: 9:42pm in Seattle, WA (SEA)
"82-25" is what is listed as the layover, somehow we're supposed to leave Saturday, August 23 (8/23 is a Tuesday) from DTW and land in SEA, our origin, where we have a layover. Then go back in time 3 days to Saturday, August 20, somehow get to Atlanta. Maybe by time travelling bus?

Now, the big question is: what happens if I book this baby?

Well, it is not nonsense. I tried twice to make reservations the other day and progressed almost all the way through on both occasions, even to credit card validation and then got a "system unavailable" screen. I call tech support and was told very clearly that "delta.com is not 100% compatible with Safari" which causes the problems that I was having. It was suggested I use Firefox. I sent a complaint email saying it was ridiculous that they are not able to make their website compatible. And yes, I have all my security setting set properly.
