True, but sometimes, when you try to do that, DL shows you the "A" class seats because they are cheaper than the Y and you can't force DL to just show you Y. It will always show you biz, if it's cheaper than your coach selection.

It is great to be cool and figure out ways to game the system. It gives one a great feeling of accomplishment.
And I am not being sarcastic or patronizing. Really!
But Expert Flyer is a great service! And very cheap.
Redirect your efforts toward the record companies or the telecoms!

ANother benefit of EP is if you are booking late travel but outside your window, you can pick flights with a high v inventory which in theory ups your chances of getting upgraded at the window. For example if I'm booking ATL-SNA (my most common route) 6 days out the 4ish flight may show v3 and the 8ish flight might show v7 - which one do you think I'm going for works for me most of the time!
Like others have said its also useful for Z and G availbility

Oh well, didn't really need it this time.
As an FO, just got upgraded on SAN-SLC and SLC-ORD on this Saturday. Nice!
2/2 to start Labor Day weekend.

EF wrong about #8 on Jan 16?
The bottom line of a convulated story is that I finally got an itinerary that would work for OKC-NCL in Jan. The problem was that we had so many complications, I gave the wrong day for the return this morning.
Maybe 30 minutes ago I checked EF and saw Z2 for #38 (AMS-ATL) on Jan 16 and called SMS to change the return from Jan 17 to Jan 16. (I'm still within the 24 hours obviously). The agent says no upgrade space available on 38. I check EF again while she was on the phone and it still showed Z2. She did a refresh and came up with Z0.
I thought EF was fairly accurate about Z availablity. I know that yesterday on a messy routing into HEL that it first showed me Z0 on the outbound then suddenly Z7 and now back to Z0 today (ATL-AMS, Nov). When I saw Z7 yesterday, then I jumped on the phone and got the upgrade.
Just curious that it was pinpoint accurate yesterday but wrong today.

Well. I called back and now SMS could see the Z2 inventory reported by EF. So I don't know which sets of computers had it wrong earlier today but my ticket ended up with an extra $100 charge because of talking to agents at $25 a pop.
And this last agent also told me that once I check in at the airport they are going to add even more to the ticket to pay UK taxes.
This all started with an I fare ticket that had to be changed because a conference was moved from one country to another and I don't know how to make these changes without calling. I couldn't even get the web to allow me to change one of the seats wrongly given me on a different itinerary earlier today.

How confirm BE with M fare online?
After losing so many hours to agents this weekend for two international trips and being charged $25 each time, I would like to learn more about using the Delta web.
Where do I go to learn how to confirm that I am upgraded to BE before confirming an M fare purchase? And are you then able to select seats after putting in the credit card and/or e-voucher?

The only way to do this, is to purchase the ticket at a CTO, they have the ability to do both at the same time. But we all know how many CTO's are left

Forgive my lack of experience here, but is there a work-around by using EF to confirm Z bucket availability, purchase the ticket online then select the upgraded seats? If all else fails, can I not request a refund online within the 24 hours and start over even if now I must turn to SMS?
Of course another complication with buying a complex international ticket online is where there are too many stops cobbled together or especially if a partner airline carries one or more segments.
