There's no doubt that there is room for improvement with the breezeway process. I do think that Zone 1 should not have to compete with any other groups.
My ideal would be for Medallions to use breezeway only if they missed boarding when their zone was called.
The way it's happening now, it often looks like a two-lane stampede with Zone 1 and elites in one lane, and everyone else in the other.

I have had one occasion to use it so fare and was extremely happy to have it. I for one prefer to board early, stow gear, and if in F, sit back with a beverage and read or make a last minute phone call. I usually get to the gate for the first call so this was a little different.
Flying JFK-LAS in paid F, the flight was running a tad bit late. DL posted a 45 minute delay. So just about 35 minutes before the delayed departure time, I proceed from CRC to the gate. Apparently they cleaned the plane in record time and were already boarding what appeared to be all rows. The line snaked back to the gate desk. I walked up to the Breeze Way, waited until an agent could take my boarding pass and walked on. Great perk.

Breezeway boarding does not work.
They should get rid of it. It just makes boarding more chaotic then it already is on full flights.

My wife and I had FC seats for a flight last month. We were standing there and they called for Zone 1 and Breezeway eligible. We were the first two up there so started walking up to the GA. He told us we had to go around the divider and through the Breezeway line--even though that line was on the opposite side of the divider from where he was scanning the BPs--and there was no one yet in it. Of course, by the time we looked at him and turned around 6 or 7 pax had formed there.

Last Friday at LGA, on our way to ATL. The gate agent announced that Breezeway could only be used AFTER boarding zone 4
People were telling her how Breezeway is supposed to help you boarding at anytime, but it seemed that she had no idea how to make it work...

How is such a simple concept SO hard to implement? Breezeway isn't some revolutionary concept in the airline industry.

I used it at SFO once and it worked perfectly. The GA stopped the regular line and let me through.
I used it once at ATL and the GA asked me what zone I was in. Once I said 2, she let me through. It is such a simple concept and it's great for late boarders.

Seems smart to board 1-3 in the breezeway aisle. This keeps uninformed Medallions from ticking off those of us in the know.

The way that it should work: Breezeway needs to begin AFTER Zone 3.
Zone 1 is first class and bulkhead. You have these people seated first for obvious reasons; FAs can do drinks and coats and there's no chaos yet. Bulkheads are commonly given to families who are allowed time to get settled. I'd like someone here to tell me why a Silver Medallion listed in Zone 3 on a T fare should be on-board the aircraft before a paid F.
Zone 2 & 3 have been specifically designated for Medallions. Everyone has the space at that point to get their bags in the overheads. Everyone is still seated before the other passengers.
Zone 4 begins with the rear of the aircraft. At which point Zones 1, 2, and 3 are reasonable allowed to jump the line at any point. Breezeway, I believe in concept, is supposed to allow you to jump the other part of the cabin. The fact that on medallion heavy flights (ATL-DCA, ATL-LGA) you have non-F clogging up boarding is absurd.
