I second the previous post. It took UA gate agents a while (6 month?) to fully implement "elite bypass" concept. When it first started, both GA/pax were confused, and this resulted in a lot of annoyed posts on Flyertalk. Have some patience and it'll be sorted out soon enough.

It would make sense to always board for F/C and elites via Breezeway the whole time, and Y plus non-elites through normal queue, so there's less confusion. If F/C and elites were further differentiated and called up one group at a time, as UA does, it won't get too crowded. Maybe something like F/Plat -> C/Gold/ST Elite Plus -> Silver/ST Elite.

Once F/C/elites are done and Y/non-elites starts boarding, the Breezeway will be empty most of the time. Because of this, even though DL allows all elites to use Breezeway, it won't be a problem, as some have suggested.

Slightly off-topic

Personally, I like the idea of the Breezeway if it were implemented correctly.... enough about that, cause it's already be hashed out in this thread.

What ticks me off more than anything is standing at the podium waiting to board for 10-15 minutes before the door opens, and some jerk comes strolling up just as the GA opens the door and boards in front of me To quote a previous poster, I think I need to cut-block them with my roll aboard

Breezeway Sucks! Get rid of it

I've noticed more GA are confused with it anyway...

Anyone have any good experience with this perk?

The way I see it... only thing thats good about it is the name... wasn't there a cocktail name something.. breeze? they should serve that when we pass through instead

No idea why you think it sucks. CO has had a similar concept for years. Just because GAs may need training, in no way means it sucks.

I've used Breezeway traveling through ATL a few times, and I find it good. Probably it is the GAs that need training on it.

It would indeed be useful if they would just put up a sign that tells you how to use it. For example:

If you are a Silver, Gold or Platinum Medallion
AND
Your zone has already boarded
You may merge into the currently boarding line by
Walking through the Breezeway

its a simple idea and simple to use, Keep it, If i ever am late and want to get onboard to put my carry-on in the overhead before all the knuckle-heads get on board, I will be the first to use it.

I'm not one to normally police this sort of thing, but there's a near identical thread on Breezeway that's being updated frequently ...

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=758001

OP, perhaps you could add your opinion there, instead of starting a new thread?

I just find it cheesy.

I'm all for allowing medallions to board at any time, but do we really need our own dust mat and velvet rope?

I mean, how many people will really use this? Seems like a waste of money for a company that is cutting costs with pillows and peanuts.

When I flew over Thanksgiving, the GA kept saying it was for medallion members to board at [I]any[I] time. Never did she state it was for those who's zone had already been called...

Yes, we do and I would like a tiara too.

If you ever need to borrow one, let me know I have a few extra laying around.

CO has a sign, and I think DL should too. Although I do think the line is for Elites only...not any cattle car person that wants to cut to the front of the line after their zone boards.

It really doesn't matter how good the idea is if the implementation is poor.

Suppose you go to a restaurant and order a piece of prime Kobe beef cooked rare, and it comes out so overcooked that it has turned into a lump of charcoal. Would you roundly praise the dish because you know another restaurant that makes really good steak, or would you say the dish sucked?

I haven't had a bad Breezeway experience myself, but I've always been on the plane in the first bunch, so no opportunities. I know the NW board gets regular postings about horrible implementation of their version of this, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are also issues on DL. Just because CO seems to do it well doesn't mean that the application of it is great at other airlines.

Couldn't agree more - it may be a great idea if it was used correctly - its not and the GA's don't enforce correct usage - so Delta should do one of two things

1. Train the GA's in correct usage.
2. or get rid of it completely.
