I might have a chance to try my first breezeway experience on Friday evening at JFK. Thus far, I have either boarded really early or really late, or at airports without breezeway, or - one time - accidentally cutting into the regular line when I was entitled to cut in using the breezeway anyway.
Since I love all trappings of being an elite FF, I think I'm gonna like it
On the other hand, it sounds like it will mean a wait on the jetway anyway. One of the best things about being last to board is not having to wait in line.

One problem i've noticed lately is that when GAs assume we've all boarded they announce two lines for boarding and begin using the breezeway as that second line.

Breezeway in ATL sucks... I would be great if all GA's were trained identically on what and how to utilize breezeway.

My Breezeway experiences (all three of them) have been great. first time was in ATL where they were up to zone 5 and we'd spent a little too long at dinner. It was TATL and nice to get settled in and pop the Ambien. I do only carry-on at the start of a vacation, so getting my luggage stowed quickly and easily feels good.
On the way home from CDG, I asked an AF GA about it and she just said "stand here." Took me next and we bypassed about a hundred people. They don't seem to know from zones over there, our connection was late and the line was huge.
Recently in ATL, connecting from SAN, I used it again. GA knew exactly what was going on and used the breezeway appropriately.
What's to complain about? Sometimes it works. But when it doesn't, it's just the same as it ever was.

Actually, it really sucks when it doesn't work.
GA made an announcement to board 1st class and I was 1st in line right next to the scanner on the non-breezeway line. Many other 1st class passengers were lining up behind me. As she turned the scanner on, some passenger started to line up on the breezeway line. After noticing this, GA made an announcement that all 1st class passengers must line up through breezeway
So I went from being 1st in line to pretty much last in line and did not have space to put my carry-on.
My breezeway experience sucked big time!

I think the passengers need the training. You DL fliers seem like a real stubborn bunch. I don't recall on the CO boards people complaining about lining up in the GB line and then getting annoyed when the GA started taking people in the EliteAccess (EA) line. If they did complain about it, someone would simply comment, "well, if you line up in the EA line, you won't have a problem".
I think you just have to get used to it. Just start lining up on the BW line and even if there are 2 scanners and 2 GA's that line seemed wide enough where they could take them from the left and right until the bulk BW customers get on board and then would start boarding the GB's...
I flew DL for the first time in years last week as a ST Elite and I was happy to see BW line. I thought to myself, "this is just like the EA line". I read the sign which said, "FC, BE, Medallion and ST Elite/Elite Plus members can use the line to board anytime" (or something to that effect). For my flight, there wasn't a Zone number on my boarding pass, but it did say Skyteam Elite on it. First they called BE and after they called BE, they asked for Medallion and Skyteam Elite, I walked right up to the BW and boarded.
Now, the GA did seem confused because my BP has no Zone number on it, but she took it anyway. If she refused me, I would point to the ST Elite on the BP and I had my CO Gold card in my pocket as a backup.
Not for one second did I consider lining up in the GB lane. Now, if I cut off some BE people in the process. Well so be it. The BW concept is an exact duplicate of EA on CO. I understand the concept. Just because DL fliers don't get it yet, is not my fault.
If you would just start boarding in the BW lane the problem will melt away!
It doesn't help that DL has NOTHING on their website about Breezeway. I did a search and there is nothing about it. No press release, nothing. I am not saying CO is a superior airline, but jeez they trump every piece of minutia as an "enhancement" of your services and they shove it down your throat. Even if the concept sucks, at least you KNOW about it!
(I don't think EA/BW sucks by any measure.)- HF

IT needs clarification. I was in ATL last week boarding a flight, standing in line boarding in Zone 1 for FC...everyone in line was a medallion/first class.....and some jackass came and cut in front of all of us using the breezeway...

F and medallion should board over the breezeway carpet. I don't see the big deal.

For those gates with only one ticket scanner it would be beneficial if DL placed the scanner at the end of the velvet rope so the elites boarding do not have to reach across other passengers when presenting their BP.

Hello Marylou, Find a Flight
We know you don't have time to wait. So we implemented a new "Breezeway" system to make it easier for elite passengers to speed through the boarding process at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Here's the deal:
Take advantage of the Breezeway (which runs parallel to the general boarding line at the gate) if you're a Medallion member, First Class, BusinessElite, Business Class, SkyTeam Elite or SkyTeam Elite Plus customer
Present your boarding pass and the gate agent will stop general boarding to scan it
Proceed immediately to the jetway and your awaiting seat
Easy enough. So when can you give it a whirl? The lanes are now available in Atlanta, and we'll expand to all domestic Delta and Delta Connection gates by year's end.
Enjoy the breeze!
So now I'm back to not knowing what the heck they mean by it. Can we get a clarification from someone at Delta?

Just lineup in the BW aisle and ALL this goes away. It's like someone who refuses to switch to a Xerox machine when they believe CARBON PAPER is the way it should have always been.

On my next flight from ATL on Sunday, I am going to stand in the breezeway line... One concern is that with my luck, GA will ask everyone to come through the non-breezeway scanner and I might be stuck being the last one boarding FC with no room for my carry-on...
Well, we'll see how it goes...
