This is Delta's C+ page: https://www.delta.com/us/en/onboard/...a-comfort-plus

I don't see complimentary alcohol, unlimited alcohol, or free refills even mentioned there. So to say that it's promoted as a core feature seems exaggerated to me. The selling point of C+ is more leg room. I fly some C+ routes where there is NO drink service.

Saying "many customers are used to First Class, therefore the service/amenities should be the same" doesn't make any sense to me.

And this thread is about someone pushing the "call for assistance" button before the initial drink service in the main cabin was complete, creating tension with the FA. I'm not sure the problem was with a refill request as much as she had to interrupt service to come and find out what the issue was. If the plane was so big that he wasn't aware the service wasn't finished, then that's a lot of passengers to serve.

Yet, when looking at the onboard food and beverage site, complimentary alcohol is clearly mentioned for both First Class and Comfort Plus… one could read this and think the benefit is the same

In terms of expectations, as a Platinum, I am usually either in F, or more often, Comfort Plus. Complimentary alcohol is a basic brand expectation for travelers in both cabins, and has been for years. I would imagine many Diamonds, Platinums, even Gold/FO have similar experiences and expectations. Elite customers (or any customers) sitting in C+ or F get complimentary alcohol - full stop

Under more snacks to enjoy:“Plus, on flights over 251 miles, Starbucks® coffee, beer, wine for 21+ and spirits for 21+ on flights over 500+ miles .”

Immediately below there is a box that says:
EXPLORE ONBOARD DINING” that has this bullet:
  • Delta Comfort+ and First Class customers will receive complimentary beer, wine and liquor service. Express Beverage Service Flights 251-499 may receive beer and wine.  Other liquor is pending crew availability and remaining flight time.”

It’s clear to me this is a core feature. And a product can have several selling points. C+ is leg room, early boarding, enhanced snacks, and free beverages.

No, you never said it's what "I" would do. You posted it saying what others can, can't, and should do.

PS NEVER push the button when they are in the galley gabbing or reading their magazine

Meanwhile on Spirit, a number of times I have been (or seen others) been encouraged to use the call button to let the crew know when or if I want a refill on coffee or some more ice when having a second mini.

If you only rang it once I don't think that warranted a scolding. Not sure why it was taking so long to service the plane so I have a feeling something else may have been going on. Must have been an ATL crew and not a BOS crew, BOS crews always are there with a drink. LOL (full disclosure, I am from BOS area).

It says beverages are available, depending on the flight distance, and nobody here is even debating that. I don't see it as a core feature of C+, but I suppose someone who flies long domestic legs in C+ might. It's just not implied that you'll have a personal flight attendant keeping your whiskey glass filled when you push the service call button in the middle of the drink service.

Just like food service doesn't mean you'll get a hamburger every time you push the service call button. Most people are pretty reasonable with their expectations, as are most of the people here.

I don't think alcohol availability is even the issue at hand. The issue was the communication between the FA and the customer, and we only heard one perspective on that, but nobody who flies frequently is all that surprised that these miscommunications happen. We've all seen them.

"Don't press the call button again" sounds like pretty clear communication, and not in a good way.

I agree with you. Inappropriate.

In all fairness to the FA, we have no idea what pushed them to that, and we haven't heard their perspective. Their button was clearly pushed, and I don't mean the one on the console.

FA service guidelines?

Awhile after C+ debuted, someone posted the Delta Comfort+ service guidelines for the FAs. IIRC, it was quite detailed. For example (from memory) "Present the snack basket. Do not hand it to the passenger."
Can we resurrect those guidelines, or newer ones?

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago on Swiss in J. Except the time from me pressing the button until she came was more like 10 mins. Very rude FA, didn't put the luggage bins down before people got on then made jokes when they struggled opening them and getting luggage in. Watched her be quite rude to most passengers. Rest of the FAs seemed nice though.

or even if she spoke in a whisper with gentle italics.

It’s outrageous and shows how fearless and power-mad some FA’s have become since 9/11. If I were her boss, I’d go Patrick Swayze on her a$$ before booting it. “You don’t have the right temperament for the job.”

And when asked what they’re supposed to do now, the proper response is: “There’s always barber college.” :D

Wanted to circle back on this with a different perspective since my other reply. If you know me, you know I don't complain for anything but this drove me nuts.

I was in D1 on DL131 the other day. It was about a 10 hour flight and for reasons unknown to me the right aisle had almost zero drink service. I blew out my vocal chords at Oktoberfest so I was dying for for something as cold and fizzy as possible to sooth my throat, but the only drink service that came down the right aisle was with both meals. Watched four movies and I know that during Inglorious Basterds the left aisle had three passes to the right aisles' zero. I was even waving my hand trying to get their attention but it was almost like they were comically turning their head in just the right way to not be able to make eye contact.

I fought the urge to hit the button and instead made six trips to the galley for a glass of ice and can of ginger ale and only got attitude the first time. I thought maybe each time I would do this that might trigger someone to come down the aisle but it didn't. Each time I'd walk back to my seat I'd catch the attention of another passenger who would shrug their shoulders and ask me if they were coming. Not a single person the entire flight hit the button and instead would just go up and get it themselves.
