At AMS now and see all the Delta flights that suppose to leave around 10h30 to MSP, DTW etc are still at their gates.
Hoped for the pax on those flights that since KLM handles ground ops here they would be able to take off. Appearantly not so. Weight/fuel calculations and other things still done by Delta then? |
First time poster (and also stuck due to the glitch) but thought I would contribute with the list of cities (as of 06:42ET) affected--received this list from a corporate email alert:
Locations affected by this alert: Amsterdam, California - Los Angeles, Georgia - Atlanta, London, Massachusetts - Boston, Michigan - Detroit, Minnesota - Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York - New York City, Ohio - Cincinnati, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Utah - Salt Lake City, Washington - Seattle A computer outage is affecting Delta Airlines (DL) operations globally Aug. 8. According to reports, the outage is affecting check-in procedures, and flight delays are occurring for departing flights across the airline's network. All flights that took off before the outage are continuing without issue. Delta has not stated when normal operations will resume, and disruptions could last into the evening of Aug. 8, especially at high-volume airports. Edit: also just got announcement we (Logan) will get an update at 730AM ET, about 45 mins from now |
They just announced at MSN that it would be another hour before the next update on a timetable. Went from all flights on time to all flights in the next hour delayed.
Could be a long day if they don't get up soon! |
Lots of IROPS Skypesos to be issused today.

I assume this is also causing the Delta app to not update, My Delta on the website to now show upcoming flights, etc?
I would assume somebody, or some group is probably going to be unemployed here pretty soon? |
Who does their IT outsourcing?
|
oh, SNAPP.
SNAPP bashing aside, this has to be a major mainframe issue... cuz they could just flip the switch and turn off SNAPP if needed. Quote:
When they were swapping bag tags over to the RFID printers, the guy that showed up with DLIT was a contractor. However any major system upgrade was done by DL/DGS. |

Just got overhead update--they are unable to pull up flight plans, which is why everything is grounded. They have a conference call with OCC (Operations Control Center) desk at 730AM. Check-in kiosks and automatic check-in are coming back up.
"There's not much to say, folks." :( |
It is a strange situation in TLV (I am not flying but became curious and checked the website).
Delta flies TLV-JFK on its own metal only once a day. It leaves at 00:30 Israel time (17:30 the night before, NY time). It arrives at JFK at 05:15. In short, it should have both taken off and landed before the computers went down. It is listed on Delta.com as "Delayed" and for tomorrow there are two Delta flights now scheduled. |
Wonder how NRT is doing... nothing seems to have departed and curfew is in less than 3 hours — if the crews haven't already timed out
