Stuck at Loading

Had a family member flying from MEM, connecting via ATL, and terminating in PHF this evening. It took me A LOT of convincing to trust the mobile boarding pass option on her MyTouch 4G - the last time she tried it, we didn't realize that you must check in using the device you'll be traveling with, and she missed a flight while waiting in line for a paper one.

Yesterday, I was trying to help her check in and it was stuck at the "loading" circle thing. I noticed that many people on the Android market (sorry, Google Play :)) had similar issues, so I tried signing into the app on my stock HTC Amaze - same issue. After restarting the MT4G, the app finally worked and she was able to check in.

The family member was able to clear TSA and boarding in MEM and was quite happy with modern technology. Unfortunately, I just got a very unhappy message stating that while boarding at B14 in ATL, the e boarding pass didn't pull up. She restarted her phone but that didn't work either - it was doing the "loading" thing once again. She had full signal and was able to checks FIDS data using another app, so there was definitely a live data connection as well. She said that a very friendly Delta gate agent printed out a paper boarding pass, but was quite put off at the reliability issues.

I understand that most people are able to use the app without issues, but there are definitely quite a few people having similar issues on the marketplace reviews and elsewhere. I respect that the Delta app is, by far, the best of any carrier's that I've tried, but there should be some fail-safe built in to prevent anyone from having the same problem. It's quite possible that someone can miss the last flight out after waiting in a long TSA line and finding out that the app suddenly doesn't want to work when they get to the ID check station.

Danny, if you have a brief explanation of what may have caused the issue this evening, and any possible solutions to avoid it in the future, that would be great. If you'd like the PNR, I'll be more then happy to email/PM that.

Tried to check in for DL2006 3/7. Get message that eBoarding pass is not available for this flight, to use kiosk. Check in via web tells me eBoarding Pass is available and sends it to my phone as a text.

Also, it is now almost 3 months since I pointed out that the Map for MSY shows the Newark, NJ (EWR) area.

As far as the boarding pass not being on the device, did you check in on the device first or online? For right now the initial check in needs to be done on the device in order to get a mobile boarding pass.

For the map of MSY showing EWR, we'll update the data source for that. The device calls out to update that data on a weekly basis so that change will happen without a new version.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but has anyone had problems changing seat assignments with the Android app? The last couple of times I've tried, it says it is "assigning seats" but when it goes back to my reservation the old seat assignment is still there. When I go to delta.com, it shows that the old seat assignment is still in there, so the app isn't changing the seat.

Same thing always happens to me: seat assignments changed on the app never actually "stick" in the reservation. LG G2x / Android 2.3.3 / Fly Delta 1.7.

We are currently looking into this issue and it seems to be affecting all four platforms. We're just trying to figure out the root cause of it since there doesn't seem to be a pattern as to why the applications are told the seat assignment was successful.

Hi danny, the app doesn't allow me to choose an exit row because it only gives me the option to click yes, and one of the questions (under 15) necessitates a 'no.' Would greatly appreciate if you could fix it. Thanks

You only need to click for the last question ("Are you able to locate and operate the door" - paraphrased) - "No" is the default answer. Hope that helps.

What Carpboy823 stated is correct. The text on the control indicates your answer ("YES" or "NO"), so just make sure that the text of the control matches the answer needed.

No barcode for mobile boarding pass
 
The last two times I've tried to use the boarding pass on Fly Delta, everything has seemed normal except, there is no barcode on my boarding pass. There is a box where the barcode would normally be, but the only thing in the box is the word "Barcode" in small letters in the upper left corner. This occurred both Thursday 5/3 on flight 1020 and today 5/7 on flight 2182. I'm using a Motorola Droid Bionic and checked in on the app prior to checking in anywhere else.

Any help?

Hi Danny,

The status notifications on the new 4.0.4 ICS update are not readable (similar to the issue when ICS first came out). It's like a solid grey background with light grey text font.

The Android app needs an update for Jellybean. I can no longer use it on my phone. :(

I'm unable to get "Track My Bags" to work. No matter what I enter for the bag tag number I get a response of:

"We are unable to locate baggage data based on the information you provided. Please check your entries and try again."

Running 1.7.2 on a Verizon Samsung Charge

Which device are you using? We're working on getting it compatible with the Nexus 7. The issue with the Nexus 7 is that it doesn't have a rear facing camera but our application declares that a rear facing camera is required. This particular issue we hope to fix as soon as possible. Outside of that particular device it should work on Jellybean.

Why does it require a camera at all? I can see a use for being able to scan luggage receipts for the number, but that certainly shouldn't be a requirement (and rear-facing? Does it expect me to paste the baggage receipt on my forehead?)
