DL list

That is definitely long. The last time I encountered a long list was between CHS and ATL on DL. There were about 15 people, if I remember correctly, and I was right smack dab in the middle of the list. Lots of PM and DM ahead of me and they too did not get upgraded.

yesterday MSP-SEA was 53 long on UG list with 0 F open and I thought that was insane. Ouch, but luckily I got cleared at the window on a K fare.

Last night's SMF-ATL redeye had a list of 56 for 0 F (and had been the case even before the DM upgrade window).

And as a FO (UA/CO status match challenge), I was squarely at #56. Which is fine with me, I didn't expect an upgrade (yet I got one on a DTW-LAX flight last week).

In the 30 days of the challenge, though, I've gone 4/5 on Delta with relative ease (despite the low status).

Last run from ATL-BOS on 12/5, I was 24 out of 98 as a PM (122,000 MQM for the year at that point) for F0.

Was #1 of 20 with one seat available on a 757 ATL-RSW last night as a Plat. Felt rare. ^ Had watched 4 V seats go T-6 in the otherwise empty F cabin, and then it strangely filled up almost completely T-5. Had a pre-flight Woodford then slept till landing.

Thursday ATL>SLC list was 76 for F0 for the mid-afternoon flight & 66 for F0 the early evening flight (even though they switched from 757 to 767). BTW as a DM on award ticket, I was #9/66 on that evening flight. No upgrades for me on my past 16 eligible segments (12 as PM and 4 as DM).

All of this is an argument for taking loyalty to another airline. They are getting too big with too many elites.

I wonder if DL has so many more than other airlines. Seems to me they have more MQM giveaways, but I hear others (eg UA) fliers complain too.

But folks like avid have had great UG % on UA as 1K's, makes me wonder...

And FCM is in full affect a lot of days. I burned an SWU for a SEA-ATL flight next week since it was expiring anyways.

I wonder how much of a sure thing upgrades are on the others now. Do Ex Plats almost always still get the upgrade?

Since DL is getting so heavy with Elites, would it make sense to introduce yet another level? Sapphire or Ruby -what ever comes after diamond. set at 200K? or something wild like that - - I am being quite serious even though I have drunk a bit too much Sapphire

IDK, sounds more like an argument for not traveling at peak times (eg: transcon redeyes Thursday night).

FCM isn't such a bad idea if an airline wants to continue to make money and turn a profit, after all, thats what the bottom line is all about. An airline is in business to make money. Not to give FC seats away at every turn.

If I really want a FC seat that bad, I'll pay for it or use an SWU. After all, thats what SWU's are there for.
