Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

Applied yesterday for business card and instantly approved. Was second card in last 15 months after closing first card late last year. Just closed the personal card today to avoid annual fee renewal. Persistent Customer Service rep tried to get me to switch to travel card or asked if I had a small business. Politely stated had another call.

Did you do 0 years and $0 revenue, or do you have a business already?

It asked me what year I opened and choose 2017. I put $1000 for revenue. Chose sole proprietor as type.

Does reducing CL on a personal card (before closing it) help if I want to apply for a business card?

Possibly, but: Reducing CL on a card just before closing it is a bit too late to help with your next card, unless you're going to wait months to apply for your next card.

CL reduced as a separate step is made available to new applications within a few months.

CL left on a card is not made available to new applications for over a year.

So while it'd definitely way better to reduce CL before you cancel, it's not a panacea. The best strategy is to reduce the CL long before you cancel, For example, if they gave you $15k CL, and all you're going to do is spend the $1k to get the signup bonus, even if you do that in one month, you'll be OK with $4k CL. So you should reduce from $15k to $4K as soon as you can in that case. Then by the time you cancel and apply for a new card, it's much more likely to be available.

What matters in not how much you reduce the CL to, but by how much you reduce it (ie, the it's amount by which you reduce it that's free'd up, and that's what's most important. And thus in the $15k CL to $4k CL example, it's a lot important to reduce by $11k ASAP than it is to reduce by $13k (by lowering it to $2k CL) months later when it may be "too late" for your next application.

last personal Alaska for me was last June and they only gave me platinum card even after recon call. 800 fico, 6 figure income, 6 figure liquid assets. Picked up Alaskan Biz in January. Those are the only 2 BOA cards I have open.. 21 total hard pulls, 19 new cards (0 for 2 with Barclay) last 12 months, 7 of those 19 are biz cards. 10HP, 4 personal 4 biz, 2 denials in last 6 months

Should I close personal Alaskan platinum prior to applying for new personal sig? How long after closure would be recommended?

If I have two legitimate businesses with separate EIN numbers any chance of 2 biz cards?

Thanks for any recommendations

If you can supply any documentation you can conceive of them asking for, perhaps. But be aware that they can ask for tax records, proof of business name registration, utility statements showing the business address, stuff like that. So for some people the business being "legitimate" (in the business owner's eyes) doesn't seem enough for BofA!

Also, these days, sometimes they ask you to open a $1500 CD at BofA and then essentially give you business card secured to that ($1500 CL). So make sure you can live with that if they demand that of you.

Neither of these are guaranteed. You may get an instant or otherwise "silent" approval, who knows. But IMHO it's better to know what could happen and prepare for it.

Sorry, I don't know offhand if anyone has successfully applied for 2 business Alaska cards at the same time with 2 separate EINs.

I was just approved Wednesday for my second AS Business card (auto approved for $13,500) while still having my previous AS Business card open. I did reduce my credit line on that card from $26,000 to 10K two weeks ago, and have a long legit. business history with BofA, and used my same EIN # for both.

Close? No. Reduce credit limit (months earlier), perhaps.

The danger with applying for an Alaska personal is that you might get approved for the Platinum (with a 5k bonus) instead of the Signature (with the 30k bonus) if they don't give you at least a $5k CL. And that's why reducing credit limit on other / previous BofA cards (before cancelling them) matters so much. But credit limit you reduce (while a card is still open) still can take a few months before it's available to new applications, so that's why you should do it as early as possible, rather than just before you apply for a new BofA card.

Thank you.
I applied for a new personal card, Bus card still open with a 5k limit, instant approval with 20K limit.

Very easy process honestly, and I confirmed over the phone with a credit analyst it is the same exact Alaska Business card, even though it is secured (for now). It may graduate to an unsecured card in a few months, but they usually say 12 month minimum so they do not over promise.

I'll update once I get the card and my points.
My application was fully approved yesterday, so this whole gig takes a while. I got lucky when I called in because they had not sent the card out yet, but they offered to overnight the card for free as I am heading out of town for a month this weekend and told them I'd love to bring the card. They said after activating my card, it should show on my regular BoA login (which I've had for over a decade for personal accounts only) within 48 hours.

It will show on your regular login, but it might be a little confusing at first if you've never seen it before. It'll be listed in an indented list, because there's a "corporate" account (an umbrella account for your business) and then the actual "card" account under it. It's set up this way so that if you get employee cards, they show up under the same "corporate" account.

Thanks! It actually appeared this morning, exactly how you mention, despite not having the card yet.

Bottom line -- it DOES take some steps and most importantly about 30 days, but it really was pretty painless to open the CD and get the business card that way. I have zero issue doing that for 30,000 Alaska miles for $1,000 spend. I do not want to churn this card this way, but my intention was not to churn anyways, I just wanted to snag some Alaska miles for once. And anyways, the churning ability at all seems to have seriously diminished as just about all of us know now.

when to re-apply?

A quick question:
My application for personal Signature card in Feb was denied because I had too many cards with them in 2016 (3 cards) and 2017 (2 cards), although I have no card with BOA since 2018 (closed previous cards after holding them for 6-11 months).
Then I tried again in late March, and was only approved for Platinum, which I closed immediately as that was not the card I was interested in.
Then, do I have any chance to be approved for Signature card in future? How along should I wait to re-apply?
Thanks a lot in advance.
