Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog

I am not sure that is the case. Their benefits guide at https://www.cnb.com/content/dam/cnbc...l-Benefits.pdf says:
With Price Protection, if You buy an eligible item with Your eligible Account and/or rewards program associated with Your eligible Account in the United States and see the identical eligible item available for less in another retail store’s printed Advertisement or non-auction Internet Advertisement within sixty (60) days of the Date of Purchase, You can be reimbursed the difference up to one thousand dollars ($1,000) per item and up to four thousand dollars ($4,000) a year.

It says you need to send in:
The original printed Advertisement or print out from a non-auction Internet site showing the item with its sale date and/or date of the Advertisement, lower Advertised price, and advertising store name to

Thanks for the correction. I still think it’s a pretty lousy policy compared to Citi. But the reality with Citi—and likely why they dumped it—was that it’s automated system made so many errors in your favor that it was cost prohibitive. For example when I bought a new iPad with 512gb of storage the website matched it to the 64gb version and refunded me the $250 max per item.

So seems CSR is not a good option anymore because they changed bonus embargo to 48 months!! Where I got the bonus less than 3 years ago...seems UBS Altitude is the only easy option left...the worst part that I have iPhone so limited with wallet purchases...

Any expert knows whether we can use points (from the cnb card's reward program) for car rental and take advantage of its Primary Rental Car Insurance benefit? Also how about points+cash (charged on cnb credit card)?

I see not reason to pay $50 to keep this account open for another year - who knows what will happen to airfare redemptions. The casino pit bosses and dealers are always shocked when I cash out my chips after a nice run but I never have any regrets.
You raise a good point. If the product continues to bleed money, they could adjust the redemptions structure even more, so there is some logic in cash chips out now. CARD act lets them have much more leeway in that regard, and we've seen over the summer with the two 'no knock' rewards changes that someone there is monitoring that, and willing to take action to shore up profitability if needed.

CNB has always seemed to imply that the travel protections applied on paid bookings rather than reward / point ones.

CSR was the outlier in that regard.

I'm on a vacation right now, and specifically put my car rental (cash paid) on CNB to get the Primary coverage, and didn't use points to pay for it. Was cheaper autoslashing it anyways.....

I don't have status with Avis and getting our car took 40 minutes and the whole Enterprise like upsell from the jackass clerk. It was very frustrating after a long day of travel and tired, hungry kids hovering around me, pestering 'are we done yet?'. It was pretty strange for an agency that is supposed to be a non bottom feeding / business type orientation.

Also, I just got notice from them that Amazon gift cards are out of stock and will likely not be fulfilled until 12/5. Just cancelling before I have the gift cards is too high risk given the points balance, so it seems I have signed up for another year!
I don't understand how Amazon gift cards can be out of stock. I assume we're talking about e-gift cards, which should be refillable by CNB in an instant.

This smells like CNB taking an expensive redemption option off the table to further contain their costs. Bad sign.

Anyone recently got a global entry credit on an AU account? Earlier this year, I got the credit on an AU account in 3 days, but last week, my 2 AUs are still waiting for the credit after a week. Is there a limit on how many global entry allowed on AUs per account -- hope it is per AU instead of limit 1 AU per account? thanks

Also, anyone has ever used CNB points for car rental? Is the price on the points portal final cost with all tax included or there will be additional charge upon pick up? And most importantly, is the "primary insurance coverage" still hold even with points redemption? thanks!

Does anyone know if these new terms will apply immediately to old card holders starting from 1/1 or only on renewal? My renewal is in March and I have 3 AUs.

I assume that the new terms apply to all cardholders on Jan 1. You won't be charged any new fees until your renewal date in March, but you will have a lower airline fee reimbursement ($350 across all cards), lose access to the Visa Discount Benefit on domestic flights, etc.

Do we know if the AF will be refunded on a prorated basis?
My renewal is mid December. So if I cancel all my AUs but keep the main card into the new year, can I cash the $350 reimbursement, then cancel and come out a few hundred ahead?
Is this the play, or just cancel everything and keep the fond memories of already $2100 in profit off one sign up?

EDIT: Poking around on other sites I got my question answered. They apparently do not refund anything of the AF if you close after it posts. Time to cancel!

My rewards balance is close to being zeroed out after $600 statement credits and $400 Amazon GC (checkout did not advise of any shipping delays). Will be cancelling before my AF posts at end of month. Probably would have kept this card for many years if CNB had not completely gutted the perks. Hasta la vista, CNB.

I’ve been having some serious problems with the EGC. Still haven’t been reimbursed for $250 on an AU card from 10/7 and also waiting on a second $50 charge (different AU) from 11/7.
