The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.
Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.
The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.
Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.

One thing that came to light when I was talking to my relation manager about my account was that the $95 AU fee is apparently assessed on the anniversary date of the AU card. In my case, my primary card and 2 AUs have an anniversary date of 12/28, so I wouldn't be assessed an AU fee until 12/28/2020. But then I added another AU in April of 2017 so she pointed out that for that one card I'd see a $95 AU fee in March.
So if you got AU cards at different points in time, you should double check when their fees will hit because it sounds like it's not automatically all gathered together on the anniversary of the primary card.

We got the letter yesterday, too. The AF hits in late December but the AU's were added during the month of February (per the wording in the letter, it appears the $95 AF for the AUs would be charged in February). Ours is a joint account and it was explained to me that, even after removing the AU's, we will be hit with $495 AF ($400+$95). With all of the changes coming, we will most likely cancel the account before the AF posts next month.
should we consider we are lucky, because they would not charge $400*2 for joint account????????

The way the banker explained it to me is that the fees are per card. So in a joint account, you are issued 2 cards - there is no additional fee for the first card but I will be charged $95 for the second card (spouse's card on the joint account). So basically, for joint accounts, the AF is $495, which would be charged at the same time.

Just received email notice that Amazon cards are back ordered and expected to arrive December 11. That’s too late for me (after AF posts) so I will see if I can cancel the order and just take statement credits. Not optimistic give what I’ve experienced with other requests to CNB.

Not sure if it's been discussed yet (did a quick search but didn't spot it), but, it seems that you can no longer book travel through the concierge. Meaning you can no longer pay for the fight with the card and then redeem points for the statement credit. Lady at the concierge said this is a brand new policy, basically they can no longer see the points for which to redeem for the credit.
Another blow to the card. Death by a thousand cuts.
Not that this was the last straw. That was when they changed the Priority Pass policy so that I now have to pay for my guests. An extra $96 to bring my small children into the lounge is quite a deal breaker... yeah, could perhaps leave them outside the door, and the lounge patrons would probably prefer that. But honestly that's not really an option.

Yup...got the letter today saying my AUs will be charged $95 as of 7/31. Plenty of time to blow through $350 in credits, redeem all my GoGo passes, and drop the card.

All of these companies continually repeat the same thing.
Create a great card with great benefits.
Increase marketing of the card.
Card gets popular.
Strip card.
People cancel card.
Why not just build a card that you can live with from the beginning.

Just ordered 2 amazon gift cards and consumed my points...Before that I used it for international airfare and another amazon card...so consumed the whole 100K points...This card was great but the leadership management blows. Can't wait for the new year to come, would cancel AUs, get my $350 then cancel before renewal....I am not a churner by any means and my goal was to keep the card but because their administration is mean...they have to learn the lesson...They could have easily grandfathered old card holders to keep some unique benefits but as some of you guys mentioned before, small bank...so expect anything!

i can understand they want to rid themselves of a large group of customers (locusts) but it seems like it would have been easier to do some profitability analysis of their clients, and simply not renew cards that way. i realize that is painful, but its not like this method doesn't have some long term costs too. we're actual real CNB bank customers and don't love what is happening....
