Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.

In your second example about August.... Technically, isn't the month it was issued August 2018, and so you would be charged as soon as January 1, 2020, when the new policy takes effect?

I'm planning to call in to clarify this if we don't get a consensus answer here.

It says “The Additional Card Fee will be posted to your Account in the month the additional Card was issued...” So no, you will not be charged in January unless your card was issued in January. You will be charged in the month it was issued, which in my example would be August. If your primary card renews in January, I would expect to be charged $400 in January, then $95 in August for the additional user, just as AMEX does with its Platinum card and AUs. I mean by all means call, but the language is very clear and I suspect front line agents will not be able to answer the question consistently. I.E. if you call 5 times and ask the same question to 5 different agents, you’ll get more than 1 answer.

I would just like to add that I received in the mail yesterday a letter from CNB saying that

”It’s a pleasure to have you as a Crystal Visa Infinite cardholder and we hope you are enjoying its many advantages...”. Such as:

Priority Pass Select with 2 unlimited guests with no access fees
$250 Airline Incidental Fees Statement Credit per card, per calendar year

I’m curious if folks still in year 1 of their membership as of January 1, 2020 will retain their old benefits through their anniversary date. Perhaps there is a legal issue with them changing? I have not received any notification of account changes other than the found links seen on FT.

When Barclays nerfed the Uber Card folks got to keep their 4% on dining until their 1 year account anniversary....perhaps us year 1ers will still have the last laugh yet? Or is this simply City being the alliterative word for poop?

I checked with my banker about a down grade to the no AF Visa Signature - mostly because I have some travel for next year already booked on the Crystal - and he said the back office is not allowing downgrades. I'm an actual real customer too using their banking products. They really are firing legit customers along with the churners. I guess I'll clear out the points, book one last hurrah with VADB, and then cancel - taking my chances that the prepaid travel will be ok. It does suck to lose the travel protection on those trips though, since I'm pretty sure you have to be a current card holder to submit a trip delay claim.

I was checking a few hotel redemptions to sweep out my points using pre paids. The CNB portal seems to be marking up stays by $45 vs. loyalty chains member rates. I can't tell if that is a per night markup or a per stay markup since I'm only checking a few airports single night stays, but if so that pretty much negates the 1.2 cpp value for redemptions through their portal, if you want to do it online. I guess you could call in to the concierge for 1.1 cpp but that takes a little more time, and frankly for someone who is cancelling, and needs to do this quickly, that may not work. My experience with concierge redemptions for points is that the points take a long time to be debited from the account and turned into a statement credit.

It's pretty crappy if you are just looking for a $80 Best Western before an early morning flight.....

My annual fee is due on December, and I am thinking of booking tours (~1cpp value) for an upcoming trip in December, but likely need to cancel the card before the tour happens. Anyone has any issue maintaining their travel reservation without the card?

I'm sitting at 4 weeks for a concierge points redemption to be debited from points balance or credited to my cc account--is this what to expect now? Tempted to call but don't want attention.

I made a points redemption for a statement credit. it took two biz days to hit the account. for those whose AF is kicking in at end of month, and don't plan on keeping it, its a pretty fast (if inefficient) way to clean out residual points. I realize travel or gc might lead to slightly better value, but if there is glitches with those, it would be tougher to resolve once no longer a card member.

The thing is, you probably have to zero it out with spend before the deadline, right? I imagine they won't just let you cash it out.
