Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog

Per the terms and conditions, page 18 (I have a paper copy of these from my welcome kit):

"You may cancel your Account at any time by providing us written notice at the address stated in your most recent periodic statement or by telephoning us at the phone number stated in your most recent periodic statement."

...

"You must cut all Cards in half and return them to us to the address stated in the most recent periodic statement."

Of course, the statement has multiple addresses, none of which directly relate to cancelling. However, on my the first statement I received from them, it says:

"Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, you will send any notices to us at City National Bank, P.O. Box 54830, Los Angeles, CA 90054, Attention: Credit Card Operations."

This address is what appears on my most recent statement as the address to send refund requests for overpayment, or to dispute negative credit information reported by CNB. The payment coupon isn't likely the right address... and the Columbus, GA addresses referred to are Tsys' addresses, not CNB's.

I think the easiest route is to call them and hope your banker gets back to you.

Canceled immediately. I had that with CSR before.

They probably added those terms after switching to metal cards. Account stays open if you fail to cut your cards in half.

Same thing happened to us across two accountds. Amazon GC backordered in to Dec with annual fee due on Nov. Called to cancel the orders. The agent needs to fill out a cancellation form and someone else will need to review (!!). One agent told me it should be reviewed today and points will be back immediately. The other agent said this will take 3-5 business days. Will report back the timing of points being back.

This changed my card strategy (one AF due in Nov, one AF due in Dec). The one due in Nov has the most points (80k+), and will likely keep for another year with $50 out of pocket fee. Probably can make the use of points better outweighing the costs. For the one due in Dec, plan to use the points soon (once i get them back) on a hotel booking in the near future, which the booking would be immediate, and cancel).

Anyone have a sense how long it takes for a statement credit purchased with points to actually show up on the account? Placed mine Friday and waiting currently...

Takes a few business days but you shouldn’t have to wait long. My guess it will show up no later than Wednesday.

Per a comment on frequentmiler, you should still get the amazon gc.
When I called CNB rewards centre, they told me the same thing about back-ordered. However, he said it does not matter if I cancel the card before I receive the Amazon GC. The only change would be that they will not be able to look into my account. This should not affect the GC as they have already been ordered and CNB points have been used.

I asked both whether the “system upgrade” was something short term and also whether they would normally be able to book the discount + points. She said they could normally do this and that I should try calling back tomorrow, but really didn’t have any idea how long the “upgrade” would take.
Well, I have a hunch that much conflicting information would come from the concierge since they themselves were cutoff from seeing our points, so to speak.

I myself was also transferred to travel team, but, they have inflated prices over their website, and of course no 'pay with card and then get statement credit with points' feature.

At any rate, would love to hear that this is temporary and everything will be restored, but, I highly doubt it. Ultimately I needed to book the flight and the online pricing at least gave best redemption value available for the points as of last week -- and I've got a bunch of points I need to redeem within the next ~45 days.

I know people say this in concept, but I think legal teams have told the issuers that they can't just drop customers unless they do something really not allowed or specifically against the rules. So, making the card undesirable makes the most sense. Because there are credit reports and related involved, it just becomes too much of a problem.

This also bodes badly for the Infinite brand. Not that it was easy to get into one of these cards from an AF perspective, but the benefits are getting paired back pretty fast.

On the idea of building a card from the beginning that an issuer can live with, Barclays tried that with Arrival Premier, but it doesn't work in today's market.

AmEx has also done a lot of bad stuff recently to Platinum and Centurion. So, if Chase decides to make changes to CSR, then I don't think there will be much allowed to have high ROI versus the high AF.

I'm still waiting (been over three weeks now) for my personal banker to cancel the card. I do not know who the banker is, the one I opened the card with left the company years ago. Good luck to all!

800-998-6205 and opt out of the changes like the letter says?

I will be interested to see if he gets the Amazon GC in time to cancel, or he has to come up a different strategy.

After a day, the order status now says cancelled, but the points were not back. I called CS and was told the points will take 3-5 business day to be back...
