Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.

Say your bank increases the annual fee of X card from $100 to $150. They can't come in January and charge you the $50 difference if you already paid in December. Unlike benefits, credit card fees are regulated so banks are not allowed to do bait and switch with the fees. "sign up for this $0 annual fee card" and 3 months later you get charged an annual fee.

In this case, the bank can't tell you "AUs are free" and then half way through your membership year send you a bill for the AUs. When the year is up, and after proper communication from the bank, 100% they can start charging you $1MM per AU if they want.
Actually they can change the terms during the period by notification. They have to offer to terminate the AU's or you will be charged. Not that it is a good idea or a fair idea. But I have seen it done by more than one bank in my time. Citi for one did it with the Chairman card. Others have done similar. If you have AU's and do not want to get charged, just cancel in December and make sure your banker gets it done before Christmas. After, they become hard to reach until about the 10th of the month. YMMV

My point is that they can change the terms, benefits, rates, etc. But they can't change your AF or AU fee mid way in your member year and request you to send more money. When your card renews, then yes you get charged for those. See their official fee chart for this card: https://www.cnb.com/content/dam/cnbc...rd-Pricing.pdf There's no mention of AU fees there.

It would be a losing battle for the bank. Imagine thousands of customers bringing this to small claims courts all over the country. I just imagine this happening in a court:

Bank: I am going to start charging for AU. I am giving customers until Jan 31st to cancel their AU cards if they don't want to get charged for them
Customer: I see. However, I paid you $400 for the whole year with the understanding that those $400 included access to my AU as seen on your fee chart

Bank: yes. We decided to change it mid way.
Customer: So you bait and switched?
Bank: .... No, remember, you can always cancel!!!
Customer argues: Ok. If I cancelled, would you refund the portion of the AF for the months I dont use? (given that it's you who is creating this whole situation)
BanK: erm....NO
Customer: so you're basically raising my fee, forcing me to pay for it OR if I want to cancel you wont give my money back? all of this because you feel "you can"?

Bank: Well, kinda.
Judge: Customer wins the case.. blah blah blah.

Personally I’d be happy to dump all the AUs if I can get the $350 reimbursement on the primary card in January and then dumping the card completely afterwards.

That is the simple solution for all of the people with fake AU's or sock drawer AU's (fake) or those that will not use them anymore.

This is not necessarily true. You could very well be an active spender and have an active AU and still prefer NOT paying for an extra AU fee. Note that with point devaluation and category changes thi card is now a dud.

Why pay extra for that? Get a different card with useful benefits and ditch CNB.

You just now join and start asking questions without reading? Read the thread, the answer is in there multiple times.

So what's the cut loss strategy for those who got approved early Nov and no sign up bonus? Will it work to get pay AF and get $350 travel credit this year and then another $350 next year and cancel?

thanks.

So for this like me who are planning the exit strategy it appears there are a number of gift card options from various retail, dining and online merchants where you get a $100 GC for 11k points. This is a slightly better deal than the CNB statement credit.

I see not reason to pay $50 to keep this account open for another year - who knows what will happen to airfare redemptions. The casino pit bosses and dealers are always shocked when I cash out my chips after a nice run but I never have any regrets.

I wonder if this card is worth keeping for an effective $50 fee given the price protection benefit is staying in place? Has anyone used it? I really miss Citi Price Rewind for all the hot deal hijinks that enabled, especially now that CA sales tax is collected by most merchants.

Also, I just got notice from them that Amazon gift cards are out of stock and will likely not be fulfilled until 12/5. Just cancelling before I have the gift cards is too high risk given the points balance, so it seems I have signed up for another year!

I completely agree, and had planned on cancelling the card when the annual fee bills in a few weeks; however, I can't justify losing a few thousand dollars in travel by either cashing my points out for GC's or taking the statement credits. I'll likely pay the net of $50 annual fee for another year in order to maintain the 1.1+ value of the points towards travel. My problem is that I've hoarded far too many points.

CNB requires you to have a print ad from a brick and mortar store. This really makes it not worthwhile to me as any large purchase I make I’m usually price hunting and getting the best, or close to the best, price available.

Citi Price Rewind was found money. Let’s say I bought 25 little widgets form Lowes for $4 or $5 each. I could input them all and then 2 months later I would find I got $1-$2 back on each.

I’m not hunting for a lower price on a wrench or a screwdriver.
