Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.

Wow, my $400 AF literally just hit yesterday, so I still have the 3AUs at that renewal but with the lack of benefits, is it even worth keeping at this point? Thinking about just calling and cancelling for a refund at this point.

What is the best way to convert cnb points to other currencies (cash/miles/points...) before cancelling? Thanks

I should have gone with my gut and cancel last month before my annual fee hit. I paid my $400 just last week.
The $350 was rumored and I was "ok" keeping the card as the net $50 would have given me me PP and the $100 Visa discount. To my surprise they slaughtered this card removing every key benefit.

It seems this card is pretty useless now. Or am I missing something out?

Trip delay/interuption benefits, primary car rental insurance coverage might be worth something to someone.

In general those are ancillary benefits one cannot get on any free cards, excluding PenFed for a cramped version of trip delay

CNB Crystal AU Air Incidentals DP

Used AU card to pay for the $99 residual of an AA fare, after other payment methods were used.

Charge went pending with a record locator, but eventually posted without it, looking like an incidental sub $100 charge.

Received fee credit for $99 on 11/1

There have been recent DPs that this is NOT working smoothly for some AU's purchasing AA eGC of $250, so I tried this instead, and I had lots of legit fares to book anyways.

For a bloodbath day for CNB this is the only bright spot.

Amazon or Visa GC if you don't want any travel.

Useless, assuming point redemption values stay the same. But what if they go up significantly? 1.6,1.7,1.8?

You're actually better off getting the cash back or amazon card. Visa GC is the worst of the 3:
13k = $100 Visa gift card
12k = $100 Cash back credit to your card
11k = $100 Amazon GC

You're right. I had not looked at the rates in a while. It seems like they change those around.

By the way, I called up CNB to ask a few about a few of the changes and go over random a/c maint I had to do.

The phone rep stated
  • If fee posts in 2019, AU's will be covered under the existing 2019 rules. This may matter to those who have AU's and are getting renewals in Nov / Dec. This may buy a little time for those who want the extra PP for a spouse, sidekick whatever. Even though PP itself has gotten harder to use (I think) with less locations at key domestic airports (LAX, DEN, PDX etc.) for us. I really hope CNB rep is right about that, as she stated I'm due on 12/31 for the AF.
  • Phone rep stated the VADB is being discontinued by Visa as a VI benefit, and that wasn't CNB's call. Who knows what the truth is there. In any case if one wants to squeeze anything else out of that....60 more days.
  • Lounge benefit is remaining unchanged, although I suspect most FT/churners don't care about that.

My hunch is that the contractual benefits will go away, but for those with real legit profitable relationships with CNB, they will eventually figure out a way for the bankers to toss the occasional cookie at the cardmember. Some of you may have heard of other 'off label benefits' that bankers can offer.

Will they refund AF, it's just posted yesterday, but no statement generated yet?
What are my options of cashing the points? Both me and my wife have 4000 points each. I heard it was possible to combine them together.
Bonvoyed!
