Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.

I wonder if the $100 Visa Air discount is getting canceled for all cards. I've got to believe the CNB card accounted for the vast majority of cards with this benefit.

In addition to removing the $100 Visa Air discount, all Priority Pass guests, and changing the Airline Credit benefit; it looks like they're also taking away 3x Gas and Grocery. This is a slaughter.

The one bright spot for me here is Gogo, but I'm not sure that'll make this worthwhile, especially considering the grocery loss and the recent point devaluation.

Even if I'd do OK with it, is it worth having a card account to just do OK? I don't think so.

This actually sucks, but then again we have been slaughtering them for the better part of a couple of of years. So this gravy train wasn't gonna last forever. I'm just upset that they did this so suddenly and nerfed so many benefits.

It's so difficult to deal with this issuer - web site, payments etc. - that that its hard to justify keeping a 'flat' value card around.

Surprisingly, the one benefit cut that really stings for me is the loss of Visa Air Discount.

That is something I cannot get from other cards.

All the other stuff I can mostly tolerate, because I have alternatives.

I put a lot of my non bonused spend on this card to 'reward' them for being such a great card.

That's going to be redirected, as well as whether I even keep my CNB bank accounts.

I'll evaluate later over the next 6 weeks.

It was great while it lasted.

Doesn't matter about AU Fee at this point. =(
Agreed. So let's do the new math (for me):

Old CNB Card:

2 x $250 airline rebate = $500
PP unlimited guests = $200
Global Entry rebate = $25
Total Value = $725

New CNB Card:
Airline rebates = $350
PP = $0 (already have 3 other cards which allow me 2 guests)
GE rebate = $25 (but just used this so really $0 for next 3 years)
Total Value = $375

I can handle the adjustment in airline fees but gutting every single other benefit of value tells me that I am not valued as a customer.
May keep this card into 2020 as I will need some time to spend my 100k CNB points balance and to find another card for cellphone insurance and grocery spend.
Very foolish of CNB to spend all this money to attract customers and then lose them. The exact opposite of what Chase did with CSR.
We spend 20k/year on groceries, was planning to make this my primary backup card for travel and other spend. CNB just flushed it all.
Gracias adios CNB!

Just called the 1-800 number to cancel my account, as the AF will be posting in the next couple of weeks. Rep asked for the reasons (she has to send email to local bank representative) for the cancellation. She asked was it the change in benefits or new $95 AU AF? I hadn't heard about the AU AF change yet, but nonetheless told her it was for both of those reasons.

Closing this card as soon as possible. It's more worthless than the new Amex Green.

Ha! There goes my Gogo bright spot.

Are they pro-rating the annual fee if you can short of the year?

I do not know. Since my AF was posting very soon, all I asked was that if it did post before the local banker cancelled the card, would it be refunded, which she said it would.

I understand that the way things were, it was unsustainable. But this was too much, too fast and it is bad PR. I suspect they will lose money on this decision as well. Stopped the bleeding but caused more issues by this shotgun-blast approach.

You are exactly right. It isn't worth dealing with them for just an okay card. Their website is bad and even applying for the card was a task. Reliance on your banker to do something as elementary as adding an AU is horrible. It was worth putting up with when the incentives were there but no more. Ready to cancel this card.

This is crazy! Removing basically every benefit of the card and adding a $95AU fee?! No way I'm paying $685 for a Priority Pass, $350 baggage credits, and Gogo wifi.

CNB really bonvoyed this.

Feels like they could have taken an approach that would help them better accomplish what I understood to be their goals: getting HNWIs as their clients.

So they could have conditioned perks or fee waivers on having a balance of $3M or some number. Annual fee is now $1000, but waived if you have $XM on deposit, for example. Something. This is a slaughter.

Yes that's what should have been done, within the bounds of Anti Tying Bank regulations.

Schwab makes it work with their Plat as do other firms.

I think ultimately CNB must have lost so much money on Crystal product line that need to reboot, and getting the customers to close the accounts may be easier than closing accounts proactively.

Or they could shift to a model of soft, undeclared benefits doled out by the bankers - i.e. quiet fee waivers or something.

So the card is truly a reward for their core banking clientele, rather than bait & switch stuff for churners.
