Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog

Seems like the AA gc is the best option as of now.
Can someone confirm that I should order the virtual cards from the aa. gift cards.com website? There is also the physical option as well.
Is there any downside to ordering a $50 card just in case the reddit rumor is true, wait till the credit posts and then order another $200?
Thanks!

Check Post 2680. There is no downside to ordering a $50 card or a $250 card based on actual reports. As opposed to uncorroborated unsubstantiated rumours of dubious origin. in fact one could argue it is smarter to buy a $250 GC ASAP as we never know when the program will change!

Thanks Boraxo. Seems like we are still good and I try to avoid flying AA generally, so I did not want to get stuck with a credit if it was not still working!
Can you confirm that it is the virtual vs. the plastic card or does it matter?

There is no downside in ordering any denomination. Even if you aren't reimbursed, the gift card is still worth what you paid for it. I'm not sure why people keep asking about this, as there is no risk in losing any money.

I called the number on the back of the card. They said someone would call me back. I received a call back in about an hour and they took all the information over the phone. Cards showed up about 2 weeks later.

This was in August so I can’t imagine the process changed that much.

Did you have to send in the ID verification docs?

No. I needed to have the following information about each add on:

Name of person
Mother’s Maiden Name
Date of Birth
Social Security Number

The downside is that you have $$$ tied up in AA gift certs. I bought $1k EGC almost a year ago and still have $750 remaining. From SFO I rarely fly AA and am not taking a circuitous routing or a connection just to burn my certs. Would prefer to have $750 in my bank but I don't trust in resale.

Would agree the risk of a total loss is low, though certs can be misplaced or maybe AA computer "loses" them.

You also don't get 5x by charging elsewhere, you don't get travel and accident insurance, etc. I'm not going in on the GCs.

Then why purchase AA cards if you rarely fly them? Use your airline credits for something else--airline meals/snacks, taxes on air reward travel, seat upgrades, etc. Those will work on any airline.

Any domestic airline. I upgraded my meal on a recent LH flight thinking I needed to burn CNB reimbursement credit, but a closer reading of the T&Cs revealed that the reimbursement only applies to domestic carriers.

Oddly though, I have never had DL work. I've been successful at getting automatic credits for charges on AA, AS, and HA.

I rarely buy those things either. And definitely not $250/yr. Mrs B maybe spends $20 year on these things. So the AA EGCs are the best option. I’m willing to sit on them for a while....
