Some of us still earn Delta miles with this card or may want information about past or grandfathered terms and conditions.

Please do not spread panic about miles not posting until after the 10th of each month.
In most cases, miles post in the evening on the 5th of each month if it's a business day, or else the evening of the next business day. "Miles post for purchases made between (inclusive) 5th day of prior month to 4th day of current month."

Congratulations to you for being such an honorable customer.

While I do fall into the category of someone who has been abusing this the past couple months the only reason I'm doing that is due to the change in terms of the program. I was perfectly happy with this product earning between 8k and 20k miles per month on my normal spend. Since they are gutting the program I'm trying to get what I can out of it.

For me it's always been about a Visa product that earns skymiles. I put the vast majority of my spend on Amex but not everyone takes Amex. I liked this card for those instances but with the new cap's it's barely worthwhile. I'm also not in a ST state so I fear my days with the program are limited.

    Honor is not my objective.

My hope is that by abiding by the terms and conditions (and their intent even if technically vague or not enforced) will maximize those benefits over time for everyone who enjoys those benefits.

I have seen too many programs shut down or severely diluted, perhaps due to severe MS generation by a tiny minority of the program participants.

Hopefully the details of what triggered the severe dilution of benefits on the 25th become available so that everyone can choose to benefit (or not) from that info.

For me, the real benefit of this Delta debit card is paying taxes with a sub $3 fee instead of 1.9% - a difference of about $650 for a 35k tax payment. That feature is gone as of the 25th - so sad!

To be clear, the $3 debit card feature remains. The limit to 2k (4k) per month and 1 mile per 2 $ really cripples the miles benefit of this card as of the 25th. Paying $3 for 4k tax payment for 2k miles once each month is quite limiting. At that rate it takes a year and a half and $54 in fees and $72k of tax payments to rack up 36k miles vs 1 day and $3 for 35k miles now.

Sorry, brain fade. Since tax payments will no longer generate miles, that's a bad example. The math still applies to non-tax payment purchases (and MS that they might not catch as quasi-cash).

My online debits (fb, BB loads) all say posted 2 days after transaction date. My pin debit transaction at POS all say posted same day. But to be safe I'm using today as my cutoff. If my POS today post today, then maybe I'll do some tomorrow.

I think last day for in-store purchases will be tomorrow, 23rd. All my WMT transactions posted next day (if not done on weekend).

Do you really think you have any high ground to complain about "abusers"?
All of us doing small tax payments will now suffer because people like you took "advantage" of a program. I dont think ST created the program for people to pay 75k worth of taxes.

Grief is starting to settle in... I made my last visit to my friendly WM cashier this morning... we became quite close over the past few weeks. Between her and Kate, I'm afraid that the ladies at my local WM will be very lonely over the next few weeks wondering where their best friend has gone...

Went to WM this morning and snagged 5k MO. Went after work and snagged 8k. 7k tomorrow and it's over. Looks like the info about the 9k limit above is correct, 8k was not a problem. Happy final 30ish hours!

Gah! Good job, Jayteabee. I've got 8k sitting here and I've been too busy to open that BOA account. I think I'll go to bank tomorrow and do that before heading to WM. Did you have to do paperwork for those?

ST MO deposits: have any of you done it? If so, how much at once did you do? And then did you repeat? I know they don't like it, but I may need to do this next week. If it's a nightmare, I'll avoid, but thought I'd ask.

Actually, I was only hoping to alert others that the specific tax payment benefit are going away fast and the benefit of paying with a debit card which generates airmiles vs credit card (Delta Amex for example).

Paying taxes is not recycling cash, which is clearly not the intended use of the card to generate miles.

2014 happens to be the only year where I was unfortunate enough to be forced to liquidate an asset that also generated a huge tax bill but not so much cash. Hopefully I won't be so "lucky" to take advantage of that particular situation again in the future.

In case anyone needs to top up or doesn't reach their goal by tomorrow, there's a new Delta Amex offer out there for 60k bonus after 1k spend. I got the business one last month for 50k, and I've never seen one this high. See this article on how to find the offer (I'm not affiliated with the blog, just saw it on boardingarea: http://milestomemories.boardingarea....edit-card-60k/
