Some of us still earn Delta miles with this card or may want information about past or grandfathered terms and conditions.

Please do not spread panic about miles not posting until after the 10th of each month.
In most cases, miles post in the evening on the 5th of each month if it's a business day, or else the evening of the next business day. "Miles post for purchases made between (inclusive) 5th day of prior month to 4th day of current month."

Most folks I know (incl. myself) haven't gotten refunds. ST does not like you deposit MOs straight into their accounts by the way. I'd recommend depositing into a third bank and then transferring over to ST. Use a few credit unions. They are everywhere and if they close your account, who cares about the relationship? Better then to jeopardize your relationship with another big bank (i.e. BoA) that may have a product you want at some point in the future. But that is just my take.

Anyone who does not live in a ST state attempt to upgrade their checking account to the signature product yet?

I'm wondering: for those of you hitting this hard, are you getting declined at all? I've been doing quite a few MOs at 2k a pop, sometimes 2x/day. These are getting approved SO FAST. Usually it takes the machine about 30 seconds to approve me. These are, maybe, 2 seconds. Maybe the fraud dept is quicker b/c they know what we are doing and are just trying to get through the next few weeks. They are probably reading this thread! LOL Any concerns ST will claw back points? I know I've read of a case like that, but usually it's just a shut down. And since the whole thing is basically getting squashed, then maybe they just don't care anymore.

one could conceive that this sentence in the new T&C is laying groundwork for a massive recall with "legal" standing to back it: Delta SkyMiles Debit Cards opened by members with a primary residence outside of the States listed above are subject to immediate closure, and any earned miles will be revoked.

Thankfully, I live in a ST state and got the debit as part of a regular 12 year old account. Aside from "cash" like purchases (MOs, bill pay, etc), I'm using the debit as debit cards are allowed to be used. Granted, more than the average person.

    Could get ugly.

Pretty certain the people at walmart think I'm a huge drug dealer/money launderer or something. I've told them many times I use MO's to pay my bills so I get skymiles but they don't seem to buy it LOL. The approval time (or decline) seems the same as always for me.

In any event, the new terms above do see the give them the ability to do what they want. WIll be interesting to see if anything happens. What about those who earned a lot of miles with this product and spent them already? Seems messy.

Yeah, I hear you. I do think that the sentence from T&C about revoked points could not be applied to anyone in a ST state b/c the T&C specifically says "not" in those states. I'm not sure how buying a MO with a debit card is a problem, to be honest. People do it all the time. I personally think the whole reason for the impending caps is that there was no easy way to distinguish (at the PIN approval level or at the posting time or point transfer time) what were, say, grocery purchases vs MO purchases at WM. Caps are an easy way to keep people at a reasonable level for everyday purchases. But yeah, could be messy.

I know ST doesn't like it when we deposit MOs, but I've got $4k and just need to unload them. I've already deposited the others elsewhere and need to move on. Should I wait till after July 25? Should I do in 2k @ 2x? Avoid ST for deposits 100%? I'm in a ST state and will be traveling to one next week. Should I do it here? There? I got a little ahead of myself.

I have read many times in this forum that ST doesn't like MO's deposited. I have never tried it (don't like in a ST state anyway). I purposely have a couple "dummy" accounts I use to deposit MO's at ATM's and then electronically sweep the money out back to ST.

My plan is to call ST on July 25th (after staging >25k in my acct) and asking to upgrade to the signature product that will allow 4k max per month. All I ever wanted was a VISA to earn Skymiles for places that don't accept amex. I am quite nervous they will close my account upon request as I do not live in a ST state. I hope not. I would think I'm a pretty good customer for them. I swipe my debit daily for minor purchases (my company cafe doesn't accept amex) and I keep a hefty balance. Fingers crossed.

I am planning to do same, 4k/month or 48k/year is still better then nothing.

If you call the ST fraud department prior to making your purchase you can do up to $8K in one transaction with no problems. Do this on a regular basis and you don't have to call ahead of time for those large transactions either.

I agree. I'd rather park 25k at bank direct and collect 2500 AA miles a month for doing nothing.

well... if we pretend skymiles are only worth 1 cent, earning 48000 per year = $480. Minus 75$ annual fee, there's your overall cost. Are there more lucrative points programs/banks to park 25k at? Yes. Do I still think it's worth it if Suntrust will have me? Yes. Will they terminate my relationship because I'm in a non ST state? I hope not, that seems like foolish business practice, especially if they have plugged the holes in this program.

You could've put 25K in hsbc or maybe other banks and get 1.5% so in addition to the cost you mentioned, there is also a $375 before tax opportunity cost right there.
